    Hello all,

Many people in chat and such are asking how to private their spawners, diamond blocks, and other precious items. So, I thought I'f make a little guide on how to make sure nobody can destroy blocks that don't support lockette in the conventional way.

    Privating Blocks:
Although you cannot just place a sign on any old block with the heading [Private], there is still a way to protect these blocks. In this example, I'll be using a spawner.

If you just try to put a private sign on a spawner, this will appear, with the message "No unclaimed container nearby to make Private."
However, there is a get-around. There are two options to privating blocks, using a door or using a fence gate.

    Door Method:
This method relies upon lockette's ability to private doors while not placing the sign directly on the door. In this case, to private the spawner I would place a door underneath the block, as shown here.

After you have placed the door, you can now place a private sign on the spawner, as shown here. Note: you must type in [Private] on the top line of the sign, it does not work automatically like chests.

Finally, you can remove the door from below the spawner, and you are left with a privated block that nobody can destroy. This method also works with other blocks. However, there is an another, arguably easier, method to privating blocks.

    Fence Gate Method:
This method is very similar to the door method, but uses fence gates instead. Fence gates behave much the same as doors, as you can put a lockette sign above or below the actual gate. The advantage to using a this method is that the gate can be placed above the target block.

First, place a fence gate over the target block, as shown here.

Next, place a private sign over the spawner, headed [Private], and destroy the fence gate. You are left with your new, shiny privated spawner.

Edit1: You can also use trapdoors in the same manner :)

Well, I hope this was helpful in some way or another. Also, note that when a spawner is private that does not prevent a player from changing the spawner type, only from breaking the spawner.

    Enjoy your privated blocks,

    ~Liam
