Skins Not Rendering for users who have too long usernames.

I was asking some people what they thought of my new Villager Santa skin, but they were saying it was not rendering do to a plugin. What plugin is it?

 

Maybe it's the plugin with /nick. Idk what it's called though.

Oh, is there any idea why this glitch occurs? I REALLY want to show off my Santa Villager Skin before Christmas. :/

 

It's not a glitch, so much as a limit of current Minecraft capabilities. The data type for the player's name is limited to 16 characters. Normally, when making an MC account, they don't let you register a username with over 16 characters. With the NameTag plugin, it tacks on "&#" to the front, sometimes making a username exceed the 16 character limit. That is why it will display cut off.

By extension, your client looks at the Mojang servers to grab the appropriate skin, based on the display name. Since the plugin alters this, it is now looking for a player by the name "1234567890ABCD" instead of the original name "1234567890ABCDEF", the grabbing mechanism doesn't include the color code, but still uses the cut off version. Since an account by name "123456789ABCD" doesn't exist, it displays the default Steve skin.

Hope this clears things up! There is nothing you can do about it unfortunately, except wait until perhaps Mojang implements global nicknames into Minecraft, or use a different account.

 

That makes since. Any idea if a plugin can be made to lengthen the max nametag 18? It seems like there are no limitations to Minecraft Plugins.

No it cannot be helped without modifying the source code, something plugins cannot do.

I would DEFIANTLY have a skin instead.

It isn't a glitch. It is a simple setting that needs to be configured.

 

We solved this issue, NoobCrew needs to manually change it in the Config file.
