As most people know, this is a very large server. There are always 100 or more players on at any given time. This, of course, causes a major amount of lag.

Chickens cause a lot more lag than any other mob. This is because they move their wings continuously and if they are in water, they constantly cause water particle effects. Most chicken farms involve chickens in a water stream continuously pushing them to another stream that serves as a collection point, so when they lay eggs, the eggs get pushed through the gap (but not the chickens) and they are collected, usually by someone who is AFK (Away From Keyboard) at the collection point. I will post some pictures below.

Now, if one person were to have a farm similar to this one in a server, it wouldn't cause too much lag.

However, in this case, this is a 225 person server and most people own chickens, and about 10% have a farm similar to this. This causes an excessive amount of lag, so noobcrew's fix to this is to kill every chicken on the server routinely so as to not let the lag get out of hand.

What I recommend, if you are really in need of eggs, is to stockpile a couple stacks of "emergency" eggs so if you are in the situation where all of your chickens are killed, you can pull out your emergency eggs and create a bunch more. Rinse, wash and repeat. Remember to always collect your emergency stacks of eggs if you use them up so you will never be in danger of being stranded without chickens.

    Thank you,

That is what I asked govo to do. It will clear up a lot of people asking why their chickens died.

Ok, I know why chicken are slaughtered, but why all my animals are gone? I've had 4 cows, a sheep and a pig (and 6 chickens) and now I have none (.org).

Yes, /butcher kills all mobs and if the lag gets to a point where killing chickens doesn't cut it, then sometimes all the mobs are killed.

Yes, /butcher kills all mobs (not aggressive mobs e.g cows) but I think theres a command that you can kill a certain mob such as /kill chickens - If crew was to kill every mob that is in the game he would use /killall and it will kill everyone animals including cows/pigs ETC. :)

On topic: Nice thread, this should stop people making threads "Wheres my chickenz?!?"

Exactly my thoughts, I asked a mod, I think Govo to sticky this for that reason.

Well, slaying the animals didn't change the lag for me... And they're gone. Is there a way to get them back?

I believe that it would be too much work to be done if the staff were to replace ALL the animals . You know, all the mobs are killed with just one command :) /butcher

You know what they say: "You Live And Learn" :D
But if you were allowed to keep two of each animal specie somehow, it would be great :)

    Command block.

It wouldn't be an issue, but I saw a chicken farm that had over 500 chickens. This is why it happens.
