Well, I have been stolen from a multitude of times, and When I try to report them, the just immediately warp away. I understand that theway2cool1 is making a trading plugin, but for now, I think normal players should get /invsee, but not be allowed to take anything. By taking a picture of the theif's inventory, players' reports will get more believable, and it would save the mods a lot of time. thanks for considering.

Victimizing Players to Trade. Must be annoying.
    /invsee Victim
    Person: OMG HE HAS GRAVEL!
/msg Victim Can I have your Gravel?
    /msg Person: No.

I think the other person should agree. Sometimes I don't want people to see what I have in my inventory...
Also, if the scammer doesn't have the items in their inventory and doesn't agree to invsee you basically avoided a scam anyway.

The issue is that if the plugin is not designed to allow this we have to rewrite the plugin anyways in order to remove permissions. It's not as simple as you all think, people who know the java language have to code those commands in. If it were that simple we'd have skytrades already.

Now, do I support the idea? If we CAN turn off the item taking and if we can make it so that the person being seen consents to the invsee, then sure. But like I said... We're better off waiting for the trade plugin.

If we are using essentials for /invsee, then yes it is based off of very specific permission nodes. That means that you need a permission to actually modify other people's inventories when you look at them.
    The node is: essentials.invsee.modify
It's listed here on the essentials permissions reference: Reference page

I would support the idea too, under the assumption that the actual /invsee command is based in essentials and it wouldn't have any plugin conflicts to add the permission node.

I only have a rudimentary understanding of coding. But I'll try to simplify it for you anyways :p.

Basically, as long as we are running the essentials plugin, we should be able to let users view other people's inventories without actually taking things or giving them items through the command.

So korilla's idea should work! Though scammers, if they have the promises items, could scam anyways.

Your understanding is close enough. As long as we are able to set permissions for it, then it should be good. I just don't know if that's the case.

    Edit:
Okay I checked on .org and we do use essentials. I, however, do not know how we do permissions
