Since you asked, you are ignorant to the difference between 'to' and 'too'.

 

I would like to see it brought back, but the old version would only cache the balances for about 5 minutes (and it seems like the command took almost 5 minutes to run anyways). If it could be brought back, but the results were cached for...an hour? Even 24 hours would probably be fine for most needs.

 

I would support caching the results for 24 hours.

 

Originally, I didn't see the need for this but now I think it could be very handy.
But yes, they should be cached for 24 hours. Balances don't change that much that that they would need updating any more than that.

 

I don't think it was working properly before baltop was removed, but the server total balance would be rather interesting to see change over time.

 

"If I could have anything at all" level suggestion: doing /baltop results in yesterday's total server balance, the top 3 or top 5 players, and the percentage of total balance they hold.

For example:
Total server balance 10billion,
1st drogo 2 bil 20%
2nd choco 1.5bil 15%
3rd skylandia 1bil 10%

I know this won't be implemented but I think it would be fun

 

no support, it was removed to stop lag on the server a bit, because of all the calculations the server has to do.

 

As other people suggested, simply cache for a long period and run the calculations automatically (possibly restart time).

Honestly, no suggestions are necessary. You support them if it'd be a nice-to-have.

 

that's why i didn't support this suggestion, i don't think it would be nice to have.

 

For what it's worth, having to do any sorting / adding of the total server balance would mean going through every player's balance anyways - so you might as well just...cache the entire list for a day and let people see it if you're gonna go this far.

Can I ask why you don't think it'd be nice to have? The only reason you cited is a concern that can be easily worked around.
