Halloween Drop Party Head Competition 2022

It is that time of year again! YAY!
Halloween 2022 is just around the corner and we are carrying on the Skyblock tradition for you.

As you can probably tell by the title of this thread, we are giving you all the chance to have a custom head featured in the Drop Party. This thread will give the community a chance to feel more involved in the DP's and events.

This competition is open to both staff and players and the winners will be shortlisted anonymously by the staff team!
Please note we are discussing ways to make this as fair as possible!

Entries must be submitted 2 weeks before the DP (15th October 2022) so we have enough to prepare the Head Value ID and vote. (We will remind you with advanced notice of the deadline.)

The idea and rules are simple but if you are interested keep listening.

Rules:​

1. You can have as many entries as you like
2. This is open to staff and players
3. The heads can be anything but MUST be Halloween themed
4. All entries must be appropriate and within the server rules
(any entries that are inappropriate will be deleted)
5. Your head must NOT be a copy from existing heads but these can be used as inspiration
6. Please do NOT copy other entries.

You must submit your entries following the specific format below.​

Format:​

Your in-game name:
The name of the head:
A brief description of the head:
A screenshot of the head:
Classic/Slim skin:

Please also attach the download file image when you submit.
However, when you do PLEASE hide the screenshot so no one can download the file to copy your work. You can hide the screenshot of the skin if you'd like to.
Staff will be able to see the message that is hidden.​

This can be done by doing 'Hide Image /Hide'​

Creating a Head/Skin:​

Skindex
There are a few good locations for skins/heads on here but the tab you will need for this is 'Editor'​

As you can see this is the 4th one along.

When in the Editor menu, you will see 3 options at the bottom:

Upload to skindex = irrelevant for this
Download = This is the image you will need to hide in your entry
Upload from computer = Let's you edit pre existing skins you have downloaded.​

The site is pretty easy to navigate however I will highlight each tool and their use.

Main tools
Pencil: This is used to draw on the image in whatever colour you have set on the RGB wheel.
Eraser: This will erase square by square what you have drawn.
Painting: This will auto gradient the colour you are using and is used in the same was as the pencil. You can use this to avoid block colour.
Colour picker: This is use to select a colour already existing on the skin.
Paint bucket: This will automatically fill the area you click (for example: face)
Arrows: Undo and Redo

Important things to note when in the editor: You can select 'Body' and 'Outer layer' to decide where you want to draw.
Body is the direct skin and outer layer is the parts to the skin which you can turn on and off in your Minecraft skin settings. I tend to use Outer Layer just for more detail.

You do not have to decorate the whole skin - ONLY the head.
No extra points will be given for those who design the rest of the skin as we are only focussed on the head.

Once your design is completed, you will need to click 'Download'

Then attach this in your entry with the hide command shown in my example.

Prizes​

1. The winning head(s) will be dropped at the DP
2. The winner(s) will get a special announcement at the DP
3. Every entry will have a feature in the upcoming DP warp.

I think the winner of this competition should also receive the head that they made. Prizes seem a bit weak atm, not really encouraging many people to enter.

 

Last couple times showed us that many people entered, rewarding the players with a DP head (!) is way too op, besides people would use alts to vote theirs up.

 

Why not encourage more people to enter though? It's not voted by players, it's decided anonymously by staff. 20 are being dropped anyways, I think the person who put the most effort into their creation and has the best head should be guaranteed their own creation.

 

Luka cleared it up, besides; As a member of a community not everything should be rewarded with items.... it should be enough to have the honor that hundreds of people are trying to get your creation.

 

Ahh I see. I think it'd be a nice thing to do either way. From my point of view, there's not reallllyyy much incentive to enter. You have only a tiny chance to receive the head that you spend time and thought working on..? I would love to see some really really creative entries being submitted which have clearly taken a long time to do.

I won't be entering either way but I think it'd be nice to reward the best of the best in a better way than just a small announcement.
