The title states it all really. Recently I've been doing a lot of research into gaming PCs. I'm currently on an 11 year old laptop that was handed down to me by my dad's work. It runs very smoothly and is overall a great computer, although I feel like it's time for an upgrade. From my research, I've gathered that building your own PC is the best way to get the most out of your money and pre-built PCs are "trash" according to some extremely controversial YouTubers. I am looking for a PC which can smoothly run not only Minecraft, but games such as Rainbow Six Siege and Modern Warfare. I don't need something too crazy so I'm looking for something around £700-800 but wouldn't mind too much going slightly higher up to £1,000. If I do decide to build my own, I am most worried about the GPU price. Ps. Must include LEDs. :3

Wondering if anyone has some useful tips, or know any websites selling good value PC parts.

I am also wondering if anyone has an input on this Intel vs AMD war that appears to be going on. Personally, I have no preference as I only discovered what a CPU actually did last Tuesday.

Found these pre-built PCs on PC world and Cyberpower for £600-£700. Is anyone able to tell me if these are 'good deals' and which parts would likely need to be upgraded? If I bought one of these, I would have room for around £200-£400 on upgrades. Many Thanks.

Been there, done that. I could literally build a computer now despite still not having a clue what half of the components do. I don't understand why a small square piece of metal is over £400 but okay. I just need a quote on prices really. I don't want to blow two grand on a PC when it could cost me more than half that.
Oh I see, many thanks for your input... and output ;) (wow that was a cringe pun). Do you recommend investing in older CPU models, or going straight to the new-ish ones? Thanks again.

I'm a big AMD guy, but I think if you want to get the best pc for your dollar you should head over to the subreddit
    r/buildapc

They know what they're doing and they'll help you build the best you can

Here is what I would recommend for your specs

    16g ram
    AMD Ryzen 7
    idk what gpu
A sufficient power supply, nothing too crazy
    500g min of SSD
    Windows 10

whatever motherboard can use the ryzen

Make sure that all your parts are compatible!!! It will take a bit of research

That's going on my meme page.

RGBs are just for the looks and you don't buy a custom pc for its looks unless you wanna spend extra cash on it on making it pretty for some gamer girl. Anyways It depends what you want. AMD recently released their 3rd generation ryzen processors which crush intel's 10th generation cpus by far. If you want something more budget oriented get a Ryzen cpu. There are a few intel cpus that are great. Which brings me to this point, if you don't mind burning your wallet then intel is the way to go since they're overpriced af LOL.

You can check this one out. It doesn't have RGBs but I think for the price point you're getting a lot of power.

intel Core i7-8700K. The best Intel CPU for streaming is the i7-8700K. I recommend getting intel. Well its your choice.

I am liking AMD better at this point. It’s more effective for the price

I've done a lot of research since the other day. Had to increase the budget. Not happy that I'm going to blow £300 on the Ryzen 7 3800X and another 400 on a graphics card but hay ho, you get what you pay for.
Going to have to agree with Dingle on this one, haha. AMD Ryzen is better value going by FPS/per £/$. AMD also grants more leniency for overclocking and modifying the system.

honestly if you're new to pc's whatever people tell you, just buy a prebuilt. I have a hp omen obelisk rtx 2080 + i7 8700 works great, except PSU is somewhat bad and the cpu cooler isn't great. I can link you some if you want!

Edit: going back on topic, it doesn't matter much as long as its a decent cpu from either side, I like intel better personally but it's your choice.

Prebuilts are not the best, even the custom pre-built ones unless you don't mind the price tag. If I had to choose between both, I'd go for the custom prebuilt ones as at least the performance is likely to be little bit or somewhat better than a prebuilt one
