Don't buy art from unofficial resellers!

Some people on the server seem to believe it is ok to sell the map arts other people have spent time and money creating without their permission.

Today, I found another instance of our map arts being resold without permission.


This is Flamedestroyer and _Splat1221_ 's Map Art shop. Pay close attention to the picture as you may notice a 3x2 of Rick Sanchez made by me and my coop. Sold exclusively at our art island /visit MapArts. On the sign it says they have perms to resell map arts.


Here is our shop /visit MapArts where the original is sold. Notice the sign next to it. No one has permission to sell our map arts.

Please keep in mind that people work hard and spend grass making these arts, yes there are programs which help make it quicker and yes anyone could have made it. But WE made it.

STOP buying map arts from people who didn't make the map art. It is not fair to the people who actually spent hours making them.

Unfortunately this is not the only case of this happening, it happens to other creators too. I will call out anyone who tries to resell others hard work and effort and creativity. I hope you will to!

Oooof I found another one that I know isn't theirs, (although I can't fully remember whos it was)

 

I can't stress enough how annoying this is. My first map art (2x4 Newcastle City Skyline) was re-sold for a slightly cheaper price meaning that the reseller actually got more sales that xKurai (helper) and I. Incredibly annoying as I personally only got 1 sale while Kurai got only a few more. This isn't the only shop that has history of reselling map arts. If I'm not mistake, that shop also has some of my map arts and my island chain mate's map arts from that attached image but I will have a closer look later.

 

The 'splat and flame have been given perms to resell' sign is very misleading.

It is not that you only don't sell them when they ask you not to. You are not allowed to resell maparts in the first place, not just once they get mad at you.

 

I specifically told them not to sell it, and here we go they are selling it

 

Technically speaking, there is no rule against reselling map arts and banners, it's just an incredibly- as many people call it- "scummy" thing to do. It's certainly not a good way to build a good reputation up, especially since you have considered the role of a staff member Splat.

 

It honestly should be made a rule.

 

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "The ones that are above chests but not being sold don't have places to be yet."

Do you mean that you are going to sell them in the future? Because it kinda seems like it.

If you mean you are unsure on what you are going to do with it, I would recommend taking them down until you decide what you are going to do with them.

 

Well then you run into some issues of people claiming it's theirs or they have "full permission to resell" in this case. In a way it's like scam casinos; there is no easy way to prove someone wrong without doing your own research. I'm sure the mods do not have the time to memorise every map art out there and the creators of them.

 

I mean if you have picture or video proof possibly and for resell you give signed book and quills

 

Agree, since when a book and quill is signed, it has the playername, so there would be no way to fake it

 

Sorry that this is happening to your arts. I know how much time it takes to make one. Hopefully everything resolves.
