Hello, this suggestion is for all SkyBlock servers.

The current rate for upgrades ingame is 64 grass per 1 irl $. This is a base rate and normally this rate will only occur around 50% off sale times. Off sale times you’d expect for it to be about 70-90 grass per singular dollar depending on who, and how much you are upgrading.

Currently the SkyBlock store is severely over charging for “rare” items, as seen in this picture.
    5E520078-41D4-4DEE-A50D-1FD275ED50D6.jpeg
In this thread I will attempt to workout how much the store is over charging people, based on current ingame rates.

For instance, 10 Grass is being sold for $5 (yes now it is 20% sale so is $3.75 so I will do my equations with the on sale figure).

    SkyBlock Store:
    10 Grass : $3.75

    Ingame:
    10 Grass : (($1 / 64) * 10 = $0.1562

This simply is not fair for unaware new “SkyBlockers” to be purchasing. I know adjusting the Skyblock store for $1 to 64 grass will completely crash the price and rarity of grass but something must be done.

I suggest that all these valuables be removed from the Skyblock Store, therefor further helping the player based economy by reducing the amount of rares that can be bought from the store (at an unfair price).

Please let me know if you disagree.

Too bad it really needs a change in the pricing anyway... One day they might change it though ;).

I disagree with the notion of changing the prices, only because prices on the store and prices in game cannot be compared, the store is there to build funds for the server, servers aren’t cheap to run month on month. Although I know you are only commenting on the rares section, the store is there to make money simple as.

The items are purposely expensive so players cannot buy so many valuables as to get a huge advantage and flood the economy. New players may not spend money on items and if they want the easy way forward it will cost them.
The server economy is separate from the sky shop. You can’t exactly say skyshop is overpriced because of the fact players decided to hold different values of items. Generally speaking these server stores are full of items, ranks and extras that stay the same prices for a long time. Point is, I just don’t see the issue with leaving things as they are.

i agree, since new players don't know how much everything is worth, (like me) I think there ALSO needs to be a chart of rarity and worth.
and maybe add a cmd like /chart, /items, or /worth.
idk i thought it would be fun to make a suggestment

hey winter, maybe make it like 32-40 for every 3 dollars, or so? i think 3.75 for 10 grass is way too much

Winter’s just a mod, and 32-40 would deflate the rarity of grass too much

i mean, every dollar is 64, right?
If you buy grass from someone for a 5 dollar gift card, you would get like 5 stacks, right?
but if you just buy it from the shop, you would get about 16-18

Yes I know that, but if you make the shop 40 grass per 1$ the ingame will be more like 256 per $.

Grass would decrease massively in value if grass cost is reduced.

While it can be slightly painful to see players spend money on something you consider to be overpriced, I don't think it should be removed or changed.

As you noted, attempting to change the price any becomes a risky game. If something is made too cheap, it could lead to many players purchasing that item and greatly diminishing it's in-game value. Ideally, you want the store prices to remain disconnected from in-game prices, as in-game prices are constantly fluctuating, and it is not realistic to constantly update the store around what in-game relative values are at.

For removing items, I don't think that'd be the best route either. Players who purchase these "overpriced" items from the store are generally either new players, or players who avoid interacting with chat. In the case of new players, these items have a lot more value to them, as they're starting out with next to nothing. New players and players who keep to themselves tend to have few options for grass, other than voting and selling items to some larger shops buy shops. Having the option to purchase items on the shop is appealing option for them, as they get the items immediately, and do not have to go through the trouble of trying to find the items in-game or find someone they can do an upgrade for for more grass. The store provides and safe and easy service for them to obtain things they may not otherwise know how/want to obtain through normal in-game procedures.

As winter bear said, purchasing items from the shop is somewhat of an easy way forward. Purchasing items from the shop is a guaranteed advantage with no risk of being scammed by a player, so it should be expensive.

I’m not sure it “should” be expensive, especially not as expensive as it is right now, but I agree with your other points.

It is a difficult situation that I've fought over internally for many years. I've never enjoyed how expensive things are, but I've come to terms with how it is. There is a very small gray area that prices can be adjusted before they begin to influence in-game market. It would be a bit different if this was posted when the server was first put up. But since it's been going for a while now, it would be possibly damaging to the economy to change prices, as well as unfair to anyone who's ever purchased these items.
