Words cannot describe how dangerous this is. DO NOT LEAK YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION. There are predators out there waiting for opportunities like this to make their move. The people who talk in chat and on forums aren't just the people your information is going to. There are those who don't speak in chat and don't have an account on forums that will see your information as well. The internet gives open access to EVERYONE, remember that.

Especially if you are under the age of 18. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT EVER tell anyone where you live, what your number is, or what your real and full name is. Every child who has been taken by a random stranger probably had the same thought you have "oh that won't happen to me" or "I know self defense". I don't want to scare you, but yes, it could happen to you. And knowing self defense is great, but if someone 5 times your size comes up to you, self defense is only going to get you so far.

And not only is leaking other's information completely wrong within itself, IT IS ILLEGAL, especially if that person is a minor.

Please DO NOT share your instagram, twitter, or other forms of social media with public chat. If you need to talk with someone Discord is always a safe and easy option.

Please DO NOT leak the private information of others as well as your own ever on the internet. The internet is a scary place. You never know who is there listening. Your safety is important and your safety matters. Just please be smart and stay safe.

Thank you! Yes, it was very unsettling. I remember when I was in elementary and computers were just starting to be commonly used in schools other than colleges, and we sat through the same presentation about internet safety every year. And the internet was barley a thing! Now the internet is everywhere and involved in so much. Its so silly to ignore the dangers.

good thread, maybe an addition to the filter where it blocks input that looks like a phone number?

They probably should have before. Nonetheless, we are a prideful and stubborn species. All that matters is that we're trying to change for the better, and that we keep ourselves and each other safe.

I really think this thread post should be pin or made into a rule because player’s safety is really important and should always be the number one rule to keep Skyblock a safe and friendly server. I understand why some rules are made even though they sound ridiculous but fact is things like these that happened much be address and never to let happen again.

It's unbelievable that people should have to make a thread to keep people safe. If you're chatting online, this is one of the essentials to staying safe online

Sadly, many people like Michael have done this already. It's disappointing people don't know how to stay safe online

I believe this is already a rule

I also think mods and higher rank chat should have permission to clear chat Incase someone decides to post personal/private information

This isn’t really online in a way this is a community that has a lot of young players who may not know better I believe this thread is just a warning for those young players who don’t know the dangers of sharing personal information

Wasn't the rule to not share other people's personal information?

It says of any one on skyblock yes that’s a little confusing but it’s a rule

I am glad you made this thread. Giving away phone numbers is a great risk. Discord would be better. Whomever you talk to on skyblock are random people. You don't know what the will do if you give out private information.

Hi! Devannn_ just for the sake of conversation, can I ask why you disagree with this post? Players safety is really important, so I’d really love to hear your thoughts!

Honestly it really saddens me that this has to be made. What happened to all the talks parents gave about internet safety? There really are some bad people out there and parents need to make sure their kids know that.

Thank you for raising awareness around this. The internet has become the norm in society and often online safety isn't discussed anymore as much as it should be.

I hope that together we can inform our playerbase, especially the younger people on the server, how to have fun online whilst keeping themselves away from harm.

    Stay safe.

Agree, I think mods and staff should have the ability to clear chat or clear some portion of the chat incase someone decides to leak personal/private informations.
