Ok, I know the developers and the server owners have a budget and have valuable time. But as a regular player. I cant get anything done. I come home from school after a long day and these lag spikes that continue are just so extreme I get kicked for flying or spam. Please share your stories here.
I agree its an issue for lots of people. But I dont know why I never lag. It may be my hack client or that im in New York. But its not my computer at all. For minecraft I use a mac book air, only for bigger games do I use my pc.
I also agree with this post. This server is raising a decent amount of money from the server store and tbh I have no clue where it's going. I know myrm gets in-game items if what I hear from others is correct, but I have no knowledge of any staff members who are paid with real money. Does money just go to the owner's or does any of it at all go back into the server to improve issues such as the very hard lag spikes and the how the server handles over 175 players on simultaneously?
I mean Ive used various clients but I tend to use optifine and I live in Massachusetts so idk if this is a East Coast issue. But I doubt that highly.
Just FYI the scuttlebutt is that the server is suffering a denial of service hack attack at the moment. That certainly helps explain the problems today, and maybe other days as well.
I use the wolfram hack client. Comes with optifine, amazing gui and textures, pretty decent as far as hacking is concerned, but hardly any lag if any.
Support 100%. Lag is one of the primary issues on this server. And from what I have been experiencing, it isn't getting any better at the moment. Today, the server was down for literally about an hour due to lag. When I finally was able to log back on, I was treated with even MORE lag. This is a giant issue, and in most cases, prevents this great server from actually living up to its true potential. This needs to be resolved immediately.
Skyblock is not hosted by a serverhost. Last time we saw the server it was underneath Noobcrew's desk
I mean that it is not hosted by a serverhosting company. Of course it is hosted on a dedicated server.
Sometimes when I come on and I experience these lag spike I just wait until it stop but if it is taking too long I would leave the server and come back in a few hours or tomorrow. The lag is really started to annoy me like I cant farm stone in peace and I cant play in peace thus I keep on getting kicked for spamming once the lag is over thinking I was spamming which is so annoying but hopefully they will fix it or something
But it isn't just the fault of the server. Look at how we as a community are using the servers resources. People want mega farms, and want everything automatic and afk which means using a lot of redstone, hoppers and pistons which all are in use almost the whole day. People then want to make the fastest spawners so they get the most gold and then theres always quite a few people breaking lots of stone and maybe even cobble with nuker. We are part of this lag issue because we expect the server to be so powerful that it can handle so much activity when in reality holding hundreds of players with all that player activity, mob activity and all the rest from pistons, hoppers and redstone contraptions... its so much. So the server may be partly to blame and perhaps its set up in a way that isn't correct for our server to thrive. But it is also our own fault for pushing the server to its limits. There are of course server flaws too. I don't think classic would buckle under that kind of load, at least not a year ago. The server feels like it is still in beta. Give it time to iron out the bugs and lag. Nerfs will happen and until everything is stable those nerfs will remain in effect. I do feel bad for those who get kicked for the flying issue.
I think that the majority of the lag is caused by slow internet. Sometimes it is a bad PC too. Only about 10% of the lag is caused by the server, which considering its new, runs a lot of plugins, houses a lot of players who are constantly typing commands, the lag isn't too bad. If you do experience lag, I recommend getting on the server when fewer players are online, or making sure no one is downloading or use your internet excessively. Of course with school or even work, I understand you cannot get on the server at any time, and you are limited to after school, not including any chores or family time you attend.
This is true, however I have 50 mb/s internet speeds which is decent, and a gaming laptop with a core i7 and a gtx 1060. So I think the lag I'm experiencing is the server's issue.
Wait...... Pardon me if im wrong but if it is mega farms or hoppers leading to the extreme lag spikes, the tps would drop to 5-10 for people to dc and be unable to do commands. However, when i did /lag during laggy periods, the tps is in a healthy range of 15-20. There is some other issue leading to this random lag spike. I myself have been playing much lesser as it is frustrating to wait 5 minutes for a lag spike before another random lag spike comes in the next minute.
I believe that a cap on the ticks per second would improve the reliability of redstone. It would probably also reduce the amount of processing needed for the server.
