I have witnessed over the time I have been here that our player base is decreasing. Before you say anything, I know what you are thinking: - Anyways, I have watched as we lose more and more players. The server is slowly becoming less popular. What do I think is causing people to leave? Friends are leaving, and players experience a burnout after their friends leave, leaving them with no more interest in the server. Skyblock lottery: You may be asking why I say this. Well, for those of you who don't remember, we used to be able to buy up to 2 tickets for the skyblock lottery. I noted a significant increase in interest in the server when this came about. Unfortunately, the ability to buy 2 tickets was gone and you were left with only buying 1. I noted that our base started shrinking some after this was removed. Fluctuating prices of rares and items. This isn't anyone's fault in general, but I remember when diamonds were worth 25-26 grass, and now they are down to 20-22 grass. Other items have decreased in value as well. Some staff members past and present. Notice I said only some, and I won't call them out, though I know there is one in particular that everybody knows about. We have had poor staff in the past, and in my opinion we may still have some poor staff. Now we do have some good members in the staff team, but as normal for humans, we tend to notice the negatives first. We notice when there are bad staff members before we notice the good ones. I have known some players (personal friends of mine) who quit because of some bad staff members. Neglecting. Yes, Cyp has given us some cool new server updates, but there are much older ones that haven't been finished yet. The pets addition was nice, as well as server version updates. But things such as our /warp donor, and possibly other warps have been neglected. /warp donor has been the same for at least the past year since I became donor. The other issue that caused people to leave was the cooldown. I mentioned this a while back, and I got hate for saying it, but it's true. I have known people that left the server because of the cooldown. Thankfully, it has been disabled. Finally, trolls, cyberbullies, and griefers. Obviously this would make somebody want to quit. People hate losing their items from griefers. I almost quit a few times because I was griefed. Cyberbullies is a no-brainer, and they kind of go along with trolls. We have had some players who felt like their sole purpose on the server was to flame others and demoralize people. Who wouldn't want to quit for that? This is open to discussion. I would like to hear from our community. What makes you think the server is dying? What do you think would make this server great again like it was long ago?
I would quit bc of the hate i get, but... i don't care about them. the more hate i get the stonger i get.
I haven't seen any threads like mine of late. How many other threads ask for people to explain what they think is killing the server, and what they think would make it better?
I would love to see more input if possible. This is an open discussion. What do you think is causing the decrease in the player base? What do you think would help us build the player base back up to what it was before?
I am not really sure what may be the main cause but i think maybe one of the causes of the declining player base may be the cool down implement but hopefully since it has been removed more players may come back. Another reason may be because older players and higher donors are pretty much hoarding rares and making big trade shops that people who are starting up can't compete with. Since they can't earn "money" in our economy they most likely quit because of that reason. Another reason because the player base is declining may be because the people that need help in chat and don't have a forums account are not noticed and people may quit because they need help and cannot get the help they need.
I doubt that the main reason is the cooldown. I believe the cooldown has been disabled. Idk about the hoarding thing either. Yes there have been big tradeshops, but when I took time and started one on my own, it started making a rapid growth.
I would like some of these issues to be fixed, honestly. Mainly, the cool down and the prices bother me the most. I absolutely hate griefers/trolls, but what server doesn't have those? Some of these issues could easily be fixed anytime soon.
I agree. Do you think there are any other issues that I have not addressed in this thread? All the opinions and info I can get would be a great help.
there are many reasons quite honestly.. some which are very obvious yet are not even planned to be fixed
One of the reasons I believe that the server is going down is because a lot of people are growing up so they grow old of playing Minecraft. Like me I am growing out of playing on the server, but I am beginning to be a lot active on forums.
if someone were to quit cause of that, then how did they possibly cope before the lotto thing lmaoo i dont believe at all that people would have quit over that, and if they did then that's ridiculous and they shouldnt have played in the first place imo
