You demoted yourself over a problem with logging in from your second house? But then you discovered the problem didn't actually exist? That is one heck of an error. On an unrelated note I'd like to move into that second house if you're not using it any more... Nice to meet you, Ms. Jennie. This is going to be insanely hard to resist making a Tommy Tutone joke. Excellent start. Most people flop on the "timezone" question bef- - um. Why the extra information, ma'am? Is this an early plug for your "qualifications" section? This is a little out of place and not really necessary-- your seat at the staff table is still warm, there is a Jennie-shaped hole in the lineup for your timezone. Probably safe to go straight to "Eastern Standard Timezone (UTC-5)" but this is entirely your call. Won't hurt either way. "I live in Canada, in the Ontario province". Country first, city/province last. Yes, this nitpicky and I am aware of the Canadian regional colloquialism for announcing your province before anything else. Ignore me. +1 for the unintentional humor of "what most things say". Please don't fix that. Back on track: Listing languages you can't have a conversation in does not really help. For example I can understand curse words/phrases in Spanish, French, Mandarin, German, Japanese, Italian and Swedish* but I would not pretend to be able to help them with anything. *Being cussed out in Swedish is over the top hilarious. It sounds exactly like the chef on The Muppet Show (click this). I regret nothing. > PRIME DIRECTIVES: 1. Serve the SkyBlock trust. 2. Protect the Donors. 3. Uphold the Rules. (Classified) 4. Any attempt to apprehend a senior Moderator results in demotion. » RoboJennie is online for peacekeeping activities. « Waited all day just to have a moment to read applications. Don't hold back, Ms. Monkey. I have been looking forward to commenting on moderator apps for a while now but kept getting sidetracked by issues. Looking forward to this opportunity. Gimme! Annnnnnnnnnnd.... stop. In the first line of your qualifications you open with the long version of "Hey, I was already a Moderator-- remember?". That is completely understandable: Personal history with the guy/gal hiring you beats absolutely everything when it comes to getting a promotion. But this is an underhanded practice and has a name: Cronyism. Leaning on the phrase "When I was a Mod here..." unintentionally sends a message that you are only qualified because you were promoted before. It implies don't have any personal strengths: All of your writing is just different ways of saying "remember me from before?" This is doing you a disservice. You already have good qualities without making references to your past position. Here's your paragraph again with two very small alterations lined out: "Mature: Whenever I deal with a moderator matters, I am always mature. I try my complete best to refrain from being biased and if I ever feel that I am being biased I will ask another staff member to take my place in handling the matter. I take criticism well and I do not shy away when threatened. I am not afraid of a dox nor am I scared of a ddos. I will do my job to the best of my ability no matter the circumstance. This is a needed qualification as a mod because if you can't be mature when dealing with serious matters how can you expect others to be mature?" It is a subtle difference. However now your paragraph is entirely about you without making references to your previous status with the team. I would support the person in this paragraph. Good thing my opinion has zero affect on promotions, right? Feel free to ignore me, ma'am-- but if you stick with your original paragraph please take a moment to correct some grammar mistakes ("[...]deal with a moderator matters" and "I try my complete best"). +1, neat and to the point. When you have time please rephrase "and I had gotten it down"; somewhere in the world an English teacher just grabbed their chest like Obi-Wan in "A New Hope". A household completely against liars where your mother lied to you...? This is starting out a little... Oh no: Do not disqualify yourself in your own application. "I've never lied before other than a..." is a phrase that made me apply palm to face so quickly the sonic boom shattered a window. I understand what you are trying to say with this paragraph, ma'am. Please rephrase or remove it entirely. I always recommend removing qualifications like "Honesty" from applications because it is impossible to prove through writing alone. Even stranger the more you talk about how honest you are the less everyone believes you. Recommendation: Come at this in a different way. For example you might try to saying how dependable or reliable you are on the job. You demonstrate this by consistently handling issues and successfully resolving problems. These are demonstrable qualities, something we can verify with others. See the entry under "Honesty". It is important to note I am not calling you out as untrustworthy or dishonest, ma'am. I am pointing out these are not qualities you can prove on a job application. In a bizarre twist going out of your way to call attention to these traits makes your readers wonder why you needed to bring them up so often. You can easily rephrase these by pointing towards your results instead of relying entirely on your own testimony. Also: "This is beneficial because there are many moderator secrets that are not to be shared with others, I have been trustworthy for 2 years as mod and I know I can up-hold my trustworthiness." Yes, it's your strongest point. This will probably get you promoted. But please throw me a bone and rephrase so you aren't falling back on "Hey, remember me?" kind of statements. I want to believe my "Support" is because you are strong as Jennie, not just because meh, she did OK before. Skipping anything after "Remember I was a Mod?" I am not sure if typing speed is a requirement. It obviously can't hurt, but aren't most commands something like eight or nine characters and a tab? Even if you barely typed twenty words a minute you could probably be pretty effective. Why aren't more people listing reading speed as a quality? Being able to absorb 650 words per minute would be phenomenal considering how fast the chat goes by. Even if you couldn't reply to all of it just having that sort of "God's Eye" overview of everything said would be a huge mark in your favor. +1. Throw in a line about why this matters to a Moderator and this is a perfect qualification. Skipping anything after "Remember I was a Mod?" Recommend replacing anything about "moderator" with "community". For example how about "Dedicated: For two years I was on this community..."? Functionally the same but this makes your paragraph about you instead of about when you were a Mod. I am endorsing Jennie-The-Person, not Jennie-The-Resigned-Mod. Please help me by explaining your own strengths and how they match the job instead of how you used to be strong at this position. For the love of baby emo goats: WHEN?! Are you volunteering for the midnight to 5am shift...? Please put a time of day you will be available, ma'am. Did you kill the other server? Not accusing, just curious. This part amused me. Up until this point you've gone out of your way to bring up being a former Moderator. Then for this part-- literally one of the most important sections-- you've spent less time than a fashion-conscious nudist at a skinny dipping contest. Experience is the #1 thing that gets people hired. Not only do you have tons of experience this would be the correct spot to detail your history as a Moderator with SkyBlock! List your positions and the major duties you handled for each of them; this sort of job credibility instantly puts you above other candidates. As a bonus the template question explicitly asks you to talk about your history here so listing your time with the SkyBlock team doesn't sound like a personal appeal. It's just part of why Jennie is the best choice. Well that was fun! Glancing back through I notice there's a lack of humor for a lot of this review; normally these reviews are a bit more light hearted and fun to write. Don't take any of this personally, ma'am; my opinions don't matter and you are fine leaving all of this the way it is. But if you happened to be looking for things to rephrase... well, there's some suggestions. Support Status: Inevitable, Really (Who doesn't love a supermonkey?)
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my application I really enjoy reading your responses to applications because of how humorous you tend to make them, even if it's unintentional. I will definitely add on and take off everything you suggested
Of course, support. I'm glad you're re-applying, was so devastating when you resigned. Good luck! xoxo
Well the entire reason why I reasoned was because I had been inactive or "on break" since mid-summer. I wasn't contributing to the team or putting in the time and effort I had promised. Thank you for your feedback
btw, I think you could change your in game name something related to Jennie. Its sometimes hard to tell if you are online or not. (In game)
I came here to re-support and nothing else, but your suggested listening caught my eye, good choice. Resupport anyways
