At this point, drinking bleach is pretty much an Internet meme. And you've probably had at least one 9 year old tell you to do so. But what most people don't know is the science behind drinking bleach and the effects it actually has on your body. You'd be surprised to know that drinking bleach isn't as bad as you might think and can actually be somewhat useful at times. First off, the bleach you buy at the store is mostly water, so bleach in itself is mostly harmless. About 5% of bleach is sodium hypochlorite which is mainly what actually harms you. Drinking small amounts of bleach probably won't hurt you as long as you drink some milk or water afterwards. But when you drink a lot of bleach, the chemicals in it can burn your throat, mouth and stomach lining, but it is far from fatal if you know what to do. If you do decide to drink bleach, you should drink about a cup of milk or water afterwards to dilute the bleach in your system and also immediately call emergency services. If you do not do this, the chemicals in the bleach will start to circulate in your body and begin to cause organ failure and eventually death if you drank enough. However, bleach can actually be used to clean dirty water. Putting a small amount of bleach in a sample of dirty water can actually decontaminate it and make it safe to drink. In reality, drinking bleach isn't as bad as the 9 year olds say it is. And drinking a small amount of it probably won't actually harm you. So, the next time you tell someone to drink bleach, or someone tells you, think about this. I was bored as hell lol
However it is still not a particularly nice thing to tell others to drink bleach, especially in most contexts it is alluding to killing yourself.
Actually, hydrogen peroxide is fairly harmless. The worst it will do is cause an upset stomach and some vomiting. Unless you drank like 2 bottles of it. Which still isn't that bad but you should probably still go to the hospital if you drank that much.
Literally just go to the Pokemon go song on YouTube and read the comments. When people tell you to drink bleach, I honestly don't know if I'm cringing or am just so upset that kids don't even know what they're saying.
Or maybe someone should go slap the childs parents for raising children who go around saying stupid crap on the internet.
