I'm making this thread because I've become aware that many Canadians, and Americans are unaware of the huge natural disaster occurring in Canada. ----------------------------------------------------- Fort McMurray is an oil town. It's where a lot of Canada gets it's money, and people from all across Canada have moved there to work. A huge forest fire has occurred, and the entire city has been evacuated, displacing 83,000 people. Pets are being left behind, and homes are being destroyed. Much of the town has already been destroyed by the fires, and they fear the fires may only get worse. Volunteers from all across Canada are there, or on their way to help, but the heat and intensity of the fires just isn't safe for firefighters to go near. I know myself, I know many people that have moved there for work. Thankfully everyone I know have been accounted for, and are safe. My heart is with everyone affected by this. On top of this, another smaller ( not yet out of control ) forest fire is occurring just west of one of the biggest cities in the province, and they have warned people near it to prepare for evacuation as well. We have a few players in our community who live near this smaller one for sure. cheesycarson Espeyaar redcarsen as well as PanGrass. From cheesycarson - UPDATE: The smaller fire in west Alberta is now controlled and people are now 'safe' according to the news and my other sources. This is great news! Please send your prayers to this town, pray for rain. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153421977010974
Thanks so much Geo. I am unfortunately affected by this if you didn't see the other thread I made. I almost had to evacuate my home but found it I am safe for a few hours at least. . I am ready to evacuate nevertheless. Fort Mcmurry is a giant economy oil city that Alberta Canada relies on and it is said within 24 hours there will be nothing left. I pray for all of those who have lost their homes now. Thank god there are no casualties that we are aware of.
I hope that everyone there is safe. I also live in Canada (British Columbia to be exact) so, cheesy I invite u to my home But serious talk I hope everyone stays safe and the fire stops.
UPDATE: (You might want to add this Geo) The smaller fire in west Alberta is now controlled and people are now 'safe' according to the news and my other sources. This is great news!
UPDATE: It is now confirmed that 2 people have died. A SUV van crashed into a semi truck killing a woman and a man I believe. I will be thinking of them today.
Anyone who was affected by this has my deepest condolences. Best of luck for all of you brave souls enduring this.
