    Suggested listening: Rise Against, Savior

Sometimes my daughter likes to "test drive" emotions. She will say something like "I hate this hamburger a lot" and then pause for a second to think about it. Usually this is followed by asking one of us if we hate the hamburger also. She's trying to get an idea of where a hamburger is on the emotional scale of life. Can you hate a pile of meat and vegetables? Is it important enough to have strong emotions over?

Should you lose your mind over something that unimportant?

Let's write a small application review.

I like this. You're explaining how SkyBlock helps you socialize with others in a consequence-free environment. Not a bad thing, Mr. Chaser.

I am not entirely familiar with the history behind the server, sir. You have a lot of information here and I don't have the background to appreciate a lot of it. Speaking purely as a reviewer I would recommend organizing this slightly better to "flow" from one topic to another. For example:

    Original:
"Ok, I have a real weird background with skyblock, So, I first got minecraft back in 2013 Jan 5, And It was really fun, later I noticed that there where things called servers. So, I looked up "minecraft servers" The one that I picked was skywars, This was the one owned by CypriotMerkz and at this time I didn't realize this."

    Example:
"I have a lot of history with SkyBlock starting back in January of 2013 when I first noticed there were online servers for MineCraft. While searching for places to play I came across a server hosted by CypriotMerkz. I did not know who he was at the time but I still ended up coming back a lot."

Do you see how each sentence leads into the next? This isn't a requirement for a good application but it does make things a lot easier to read and understand. You are probably fine the way you have this written, I'm just making (very bad) suggestions.

My addiction to X-Men fan fiction is a serious problem. You are not helping, Storm. #MustResist

Central Standard Time (CST) is UTC-5, sir.

You did that on purpose. When reading "I speak mainly english, and" my hand twitched so hard the computer mouse flew into the wall.

If you are deliberately looking to poke at overly-sensitive grammar nitwits (like me) then well done. You got me, sir. Otherwise you may want to rephrase slightly here.

•long, slow blink• That sentence was so far out I need to call NASA for an opinion. One moment, please.

I think you meant to talk about how people...
Players that get banned a lot have banning experi...
Why does being banned give you an idea of...

Nevermind. Recommend you shorten this to just "I have never been banned and I am hoping I will never be". I read that response several times and I can't rephrase it in a way that answers the question with the material you've provided.

This is the part of applications I love to read the most. I'm still reeling a bit from what you have written above-- that line about "speaking mainly english" in particular is haunting me-- but I am extremely optimistic about what is to come. You've done pretty well so far, Storm. Proceed!

You can already do this, sir. Take a screenshot, report the player and the issue will be handled. This sounds a little like you're a little eager to boss others around. Probably not intentional. Can you explain a bit about why you directly handling the issue would benefit everyone?

I am more wary than a Scientologist in a debate championship. This portion reads a bit like you're taking a swipe at the current Moderator team... but I'm not entirely sure. When you put down "people in-game have to say something about it" are you referring to Moderators going AFK? Can you explain a bit more?

Also: That ending part about having a "say" in server decisions is rather interesting. This is twice you've mentioned wanting others to listen to you more often; are you looking for a Mod position in order to feel more important, Storm? What would make you feel like you were valued as a community member?

+1. This is extremely well written with supporting statements. Write your whole application this way and I would personally mail a hand-written letter of endorsement to your house.

Minor edit: Toss out the part I've marked with strike through text at the very beginning. You mention the forums for some reason but then write a beautiful example of how you want to help clean up social media. Read this paragraph without the first sentence and you will have a much better experience.

Edit your "Fridays-Saturdays", sir. Unless you really are volunteering to be online 22 hours a day during the week? That would be pretty amazing.

Remove the "do, do" -- That made me smile, but it probably should be stated a bit better.

    Sidebar:
This application question always makes me think. The phrasing is written a little ambiguously: "Do you have any experience as a moderator" does not have to mean "on Minecraft", specifically. There are lots of different ways to moderate, both online and offline.

For example have you ever been the head of a school event? Then you've moderated people and groups to make the event happen.

The same thing applies to almost any real world management position: Can you list your part-time job arranging McDonald's work schedules as "experience"? If you've ever tried to handle forty people's needs while making sure there are enough bodies to work a shift then you know how insane that can be.

    Moar.jpg
    You're almost there.

Maturity is more than maintaining a straight face, but you are headed the right direction. This is a bit frustrating because the entire topic is hard to pin down: How do you define maturity? We all know when someone has maturity, but absolutely no-one has some sort of checklist to achieve it. Justice Stewart said it best with the phrase I know it when I see it.

I always recommend dropping a "Maturity" qualification out of job applications. Just reading your post and how you reply to comments is enough to tell if you are mature or not. This won't hurt your chances but almost everyone skips reading it anyways.

If your qualifications were food I'd be a starving third world villager.

Please provide a bit of explanation on how each of these traits you are listing would make you a good Moderator. Can you list some scenarios where multi-tasking would benefit the server? Yes, I know it seems obvious but if you're going to put something like this as important to your application you need to explain why. Take the time to explain.

Pet peeve activation! All sectors stand by!

Do not begin a qualification by disqualifying yourself. "Active: I have other things to do with my life" made me troll-face so hard Wes Craven gave me a role in his newest horror movie.

Please rephrase this and simply go with "Playing SkyBlock is one of the things I enjoy doing the most".

Based on your phrasing here the word you are looking for is appeasing, or perhaps something like conciliatory.

You've left me scratching my head here a bit, Storm. Being easy to start a conversation with does not transition well into "letting them down" or doing favors for people.

Can you rephrase this to highlight how being open-minded and listening to others helps you resolve situations or work through concerns? This might be what you were trying to go for. Or not? Question mark?

Why is this not listed under your "experience" section? While I'm not sure what a "quiet leader" is this portion of your application would work a lot better as an example of how you have experience handling groups of people (also called: moderating).

These traits and qualifications could use a lot more discussion and elaboration than you are providing, Storm. I keep trying to take a big bite out of this verbal corndog but all I'm getting is the wood stick in the middle. That might be the weirdest thing I write all day.

You are looking for "impartial" or "unbiased", sir. Rephrase slightly, explain why it is important not to favor people you know over anyone else in issues related to Moderating. Or just ignore me, my cold medicine is wearing off and things are getting a bit loopy.

That is rather nicely said, I like it. Can you explain why this helps motivate you towards helping the community? This feels like something that could help your application.

Quite welcome, Storm. Best of luck with your application.

It doesn't matter on age, just maturity. There was a mod that was only 10 but she resigned
