I have no idea why, probably due to my computer overheating so much that it actually did damage- My laptop's touchpad is uninstalled completely. I've gone to Control Panel > Mouse settings, it sometimes plays up and shows it as disabled, but this time around it is only showing my USB mouse and no other option I've gone into device manger as well to see if there was anything there maybe I could do, but it only shows up my USB mouse and saying that it is fine, there is no updates needed for my USB mouse. But when I pull out my mouse, it doesn't even show the mouse option at all. I've downloaded the synaptics driver again like I have once before when it wasn't there, but this time around I am guessing it is fully uninstalled from my computer all together, so when I reinstall it, the actual location isn't there anymore. So I'm assuming I must have to go to the direct source so it installs, but I don't know where that is. I am using windows 1.8
Have you tried doing a system restore? You might of accidently deleted it trying to install another driver or what not.
Wait so there's no device in your entire control panel labeled synaptic touchpad or whatever? It's just totally gone? When was the last time you dropped your laptop? I'm guessing that the connector between the touchpad and your motherboard got disconnected. That's my rough guess though; tbh this doesn't look like a software problem to me since your computer isn't even recognizing that the touchpad is there anymore. Then again update to windows 10 cuz windows 8 was the worst thing Microsoft invented since before Win 95. It probably won't do (my bad for language) updating, but you never know. oh blaq you know?
Well from what I know you may either need to update your bios, the overheating may have done some internal damage or as said above, there is a malfunction or disconnection between the motherboard and touchpad.
Nothing at all, and I haven't ever dropped my laptop besides when I first got it which was like... years ago xD And Im too scared because 5 of my friends upgraded to windows 10 and their computers couldnt handle it
is there any missing drivers? shows up as... caution sign and will say "unknown driver" or might have a driver name.. if not, might be just not getting recognized 0.0 it should recognize an external though... unless the usb port got fried along with mice/keyboard (if thats the case) if just disconnected (unlikely but possible, since overheat not dropped) some laptops are easy to take apart, others i wouldnt risk it. just depends on exactly what type of pc idk if website could have basic touchpad driver, but thats another option to look into opinion- if it was showing but disabled, kinda flickering like there and not there, but now not showing at all... it was probably going slowly. 0.0 hope its not the case or the ribbon slipped out of the connector finally from the drop all that time ago. lol
