Intro: Hello, Sky here. Today I'm here, bringing my moderator application for SkyBlock.net. I'm becoming serious about this position, the power it holds, and the responsibility it requires. I am open for constructive criticism, and will take feedback as a chance to improve. Please take this under heavy consideration ~Thank you! Now, on to the application!~ Your in-game name: SkyCane. My /nick is SkyCorvette though. I was SkyPig329, until a name change. Which timezone are you in? Eastern Standard Time (or EST for short ) What languages do you speak? English, and petty Spanish. But, when I come online, I rarely see any people who speak a different language. If there is a time where there is a person speaking a different language, I always have Firefox open, and Dictionary.com is always open along with it. Have you ever been banned? (If yes, why?) No, I have never been banned. Being banned would be devastating for me personally. Why would I make an offense to the community I love? Why do you think you should be mod? I think I am fit for the moderator title because I have 3 years experience, know the server inside and out, fond of practically all the commands, and the following traits. Advocate- I am a advocate for myself/others. I find myself in situations where I have to advocate for myself, or if anyone is being harassed, or offended, I advocate for them to the best of my ability. Compassionate/Kind- I'm a person who is kind to any player, can easily make, and maintain friendships with players. Players shouldn't be afraid to talk to a moderator. Moderators need to be caring, compassionate, etc. We're all human, so we have our moments at times. Experienced- I have a total experience of three and a half years on SkyBlock.net. I am familiar with almost every rule, and understand them. With all this time of experience, Ive also had a lot of time to observe moderators, and understand the responsibilities. Committed- I have a strong bond/connection with the forums, and skyblock in-game. I’m on whenever I can. I know my in-game activity has decreased drastically, but im trying to regain my activity. Non-Biased- I have respect for all players. Ranked or not, I treat all players the same. This applies out of game too. I respect players on the forums, respect opinions, respect beliefs, and respect all people. If I was to become moderator, I would observe all evidence to make sure the ban would be correct. I frequently read the ban archives, so I’m fond of situations where rationality for a ban comes in. Semi-Fast typer- My wpm count is around 58-65, so, semi-fast. I’m fast to reply, and fast to answer a question. Helpful- I’ve been helping a lot more in game, and now it's all I do really… I offer help to players, and usually help fifteen players at the most in a ten-fifteen minute span. Helping is a fun thing to do! I will continue helping players for as long as I can Mature- (Still working on)- My maturity in-game has improved in the past few months.. Most of the time I can be mature, but we all have our moments. There is no such thing as one-hundred percent perfect maturity, but I try my hardest. As I said already, we're all human, so moments can be had where we can act immature. Honest- I always tell the truth, even if involves hurting someone. Some may try to lie and avoid being banned, but, I can tell if someone is bluffing (It's some weird talent i’ve had) How long can you be active on the server everyday? I can be active on these days, from the following times. Monday: 2:30pm-10:00pm Tuesday: 12:45pm-1:30pm & 2:30pm-10:00pm Wednesday: 4:00pm-10:00pm Thursday: 2:30pm-10:00pm Friday: 2:30pm-10:30pm Saturday: Any time from 6:30ish am-10:30pm Sunday: Depends on the Sunday, some sundays I can be on 8:00am-10:00pm or 10:00am-10:00pm Holidays: around 30-120 minutes. Vacation: Any time I can be on. Family Events: 30-120 minutes. Do You have any other experience as a moderator? Yes, I hold one position on a server made by my homies and I... It has few members, so, the main punishment is a kick… ~Thank you very much for reading this application. I just wanna thank those who helped me with some grammar mistakes and such ~
90% support. Your application is great but try to be a bit more active. I've seen you helping online (just read questions in the chat and /m them the answer).
Partial Support. You are very active, and I love chatting with you. The application is well-detailed. I just want to see more of forums activity from you and help more .
You possess such cute qualities as an individual and I love the way you handle yourself. I see you in game a lot but I don't see you helping too much, I would try to work on that. I don't see you around forums much, I would work the mechanics and try to figure out the ways around the forums. It becomes a lot harder than you think when you're moderating. I don't know much about you, but I've interacted with you a few different times. Try to work on your maturity and the way you handle situations, though I love the way you present yourself and handle yourself. Good luck, baby.
Ill work on this If anybody is wondering why I havent been on lately, my Nintendork phase is re-claiming me. So put this under Partial?
I don't really label my supports, partial or no support. I just say what I would like to see. c: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
(Suggested Music: Muse, "Knights of Cydonia") Myrmwife and daughter are taking a walk for playtime. So I have a little while to read up on applications, let's hope this is worth the time. Mr. Rogers, is that you?? +1 for the formal letter-style opening. That is pretty old school and quite a nice tone to begin an application with. "Soon it will be too late for Master Skypig." Negative on that approach to you, SkyPig. All runways are busy. This sounds like you are trying to get a "first strike" against a whole lot of potential negative reviews, sir. Which is interesting, but unnecessary: Most people (including myself) do not even know who you are. But after reading that now I am wondering if you are rude in-game so often that you're nervous about your application being shot down. Do you see how you're prejudicing readers against your application by writing your opening this way? Recommend a rewrite of this header. You now owe TheSugarCane a royalty fee of 1 Grass Block. He's stealing your "theme", Cane! #RiseUp I'm glad you didn't trip on this question. Kind of surprising how many people get this one wrong. Please add UTC-5 to help out the non-'Muricans reading your application. "Petty Spanish" made me laugh like a child on Christmas morning. +1 to you, good sir. While I know what you're intending to say you may want to swap out your phrasing for something like "small amounts of Spanish". Because offense is the best position to play- The best defense is a good offense- Well they said every offender has his day- We only hurt the community we love- Because you're naturally offensive...? I am truly enjoying your wordplay here, SkyPig. You have the most offbeat word phrasing I have seen in a while and it's getting my full attention/support. Hold on, it's lunchtime. Need to make a sandwich before the next portion and I don't want to miss anything. This is pretty much how I view sandwiches. #SRSBusiness Alright, all settled. Proceed. #OmNomNom. Quit fondling the commands! Dear Lord I'm loving your phrasing SkyPig. You are a beautiful, shining snowflake in the Land of Applications. This is a very good trait, I'm surprised more people don't list something like this. Good job. Reword this slightly so you're not saying "advocate-advocate-advocate" constantly. Tone is down a bit there, Miss America. Strict adherence to rules and vicious, unblinking application of punishment is the requirement. Being "caring and compassionate" is OK, but not necessary. Sidenote: If you are trying to get Moderator because you think you'll be making lots of friends with players then you need to Google the phrase "fair weather friend". I agree with the part regarding people need to be able to approach a Moderator on issues. That's pretty much the cornerstone of the Mod role. Familiar with almost every rule? Which one(s) are you missing? Written well for the most part, good trait. +1. Review and edit your "almost every rule" portion, though. You're on every single day, but sometimes miss a day? Rephrase that last sentence, you have weird logic and a subject/verb swap. I winced so hard I sprained an eyebrow muscle. Now I look like I'm permanently winking at everything like some sort of pervy pirate. This is the fourth application I've seen that uses "Non-Biased". STAHP THAT. The correct word is "Unbiased". Use the non- prefix when describing a word that does not already have a negative version (non-authoritative, for example). You're also using unbiased incorrectly. When you're talking about respecting people, opinions, beliefs and people (um, again?) then the word you are searching for is "Tolerant", or perhaps "Open-Minded". Likewise when discussing review of evidence, due process and applying punishments then the word you want is "Impartial". Moderators are impartial when applying bans. If you really want to use "unbiased" then you'll need to talk about how you do not favor one thing over another. Even then it's kind of a lie: Everyone has inherent bias for or against something. Setting aside your own bias to be fair to others is a pretty visible example of mature behavior. Everyone and their stay-at-home entrepreneur uncle lists "I can type fast!" as a bonus. Why?? I am starting to wonder if there's some sort of ur-application out there people are copying. Someone get Beowulf tracking this monster down. That's very exciting, Eleanor. But does helping people require you to be a Moderator...? Rewrite this to show how getting a Mod position would mean you could assist others in ways normal players can't. This makes me more frustrated than a competitive swimmer with diarrhea. Do not start a qualification by disqualifying yourself immediately. "Mature ... most of the time ... we all have our moments ... no such thing as 100% mature ... I'll try harder..." etc, et al. Think About What You've Done. It does not help you to list the ways you are failing at being mature. Rewrite this to highlight how you are successful or remove it altogether. Or just ignore me, my opinions are rougher than using sandpaper to shave. Las Vegas called, they want a word with you about the Poker tournament. Honest and integrity are synonyms. Combine these two portions, rewrite to highlight why this matters. Also consider that we already thought you were honest, why bring it up and point out just how truthful you are...? That' sounds like you're overcompensating and would I lie to you about that? Times look good. Some odd spacing around weekdays (1 hour breaks..?) but you're online when most of the carnage is going down. Agent SkyPig, you are not authorized to disclose the server! Turn in your badge and gun immediately. Honestly I loved your grammar and word choice, sir. I'm going to read this again before going to bed so I can wake up feeling happy. Good luck with your application. Support Status: Totality Holistic
Haha this killed me, I gotta say you always make me laugh. I'll improve on this stuff. And I asked Sugar before I changed my name lol
