Simple, make a subforum for forum reports.
I understand how we could just use the regular section for it, but I'd like a "Forum Reports" section.

what if we want to report users? And not posts?
What if we want to post a report on rate abuse?
Clicking report on every thread with it wont get far.

Report the post and it's attached to the user. Cyp updated the points process thing not even that long ago.
Why should another system be implemented when the one we have, the same one that nearly EVERY forum uses works perfectly fine?
Also, let's address the hypocrisy. You want to be able to report for rate abuse by reporting everything they've ever posted, essentially.

Wouldn't just posting a report make it much simpler for rate abuse? Jason Gilbertson says "by reporting everything they've ever posted," That's not what tads is saying. (go check out the thread rate abuse defined)

Reporting an account would be the same as reporting every post ever

    How so?
(Side note: This is already a thing on the Mineverse forums, TADS4 was just bringing it here)

Not necessarily, moderators (from what I believe to be correct), aren't able to see reported users. Only Cypriot/Crew/Sean are possibly the only ones.

    It's not necessarily needed here.
Aside from reporting for rate abuse (which could be solved with something in the background that tracks frequency of rating and balance of positive versus negative rates) reporting an account does not show the person checking the report the specific instances.
They have to comb through everything that user has done, and then there's the argument about how far back a mod can punish for, or stacking punishment. Like, if a user was hit for posts 1 through 100 before, the mod shouldn't be able to go through those again and add it to the current infraction. Punishment should escalate normally, but that's like getting a C in history in 6th grade and having every history teacher treat you like an idiot for every year after even if you never got a C again.

That is why you provide evidence.. -_- so they know where to look
Plus Cyp posted on his twitter no evidence from 2 weeks or before is to be used when reporting. I agree with your "the mod shouldn't be able to go through those again and add it to the current infraction" statement.

Or, you can report the specific posts to narrow things down

Yes, is that not whats being suggested? I believe tads is not suggesting a report on the account (correct me if im wrong) but rather just a report area where you can report specific things on the forums

His intent seems to be more akin to what I was saying. Being able to report a user as a whole.
I addressed rate abuse (which can very much be a problem), but the other side of that is a hypocrisy.
What he is asking for is a way to circumvent the existing system. He wants to be able to say 'ban this user because reason' but provide no proof.
It is much simpler to just report the post you are offended by. Otherwise, by reporting the user as a whole, you are forcing the mods to go through their posts to find every infraction. It's much the same as neg bombing someone with ratings.
Adding yet another forum actually negates the point of the report button in the first place. The tools we have work for what they are intended. That something should be done about those who rate abuse is without argument, but that's not the original point addressed.
We don't need another forum to report someone. As Nocturnish said, we have a report button on every post. Use the tools provided.
