Difference Between Staff Power Abuse, Opinions, and Misunderstandings

Is muting me for 3 minutes for "don't be smart" power abuse? Just asking..

 

Did you even get a warning beforehand?

 

I got kicked for "one message per chat page". I said:

"my chat page is at the smallest, how big is a normal chat page?"

Then I got muted for "don't be smart"

After that (5min later) I said "selling sand". I got muted again for 3min for "you might confuse new people". I have no idea how that even deserved a mute.

Then I said "selling red sand you can convert it bla bla bla, and I got tempbanned for 15min" for "attempting to bypass sand trade" but that is perfectly ok as the moderator did not know it was legal and I got underbanned after sorting out over skype.


I got kicked too, I don't remember for what (it was NOTHING concerning the mutes, I'm positivte of that!) but I remember telling the mod "don't take this rude, but you can /msg me too, you don't have to /mute or /kick me for everything

 

I didn't read all of the post, but i want to say that I got kicked again for accidently saying 2 (almost same sentences) in a short time... It was a spamming kick no big deal but seems like other greenies can spam as much as they want if they don't get tooo much attention. I just want to say that sometimes the trial mods should look at the greenies too, because i see a lot of greenies using way too much Caps or spamming the chat.

It's bitter that i got 3 kicks already in a few weeks because of little reasons, but it's ok. I just want mods be more carefull.

well just because you don't see them get kicked doesn't mean that we don't kick them

I think some mods should loosen up a bit, maybe that may there will not be too much complains about "power abuse"

 

I can check, I don't think so because I think I wasn't bothered to take any as if I would report the staff member there would be a huge wave of staff friends supporting him, and he may been in a bad mood.

 

Yeah, that's another reason this term is loosely thrown around.

The other term I hear thrown about alot is the word biased. Everyone is biased. There's no getting around that fact. But bias is not inherently bad. The true meaning of bias is given the _exact_ same situation a person would act differently from 1 player to another. On skyblock you'll by definition be biased, because every situation is different.

1) Every player is different. Some are donors, some aren't. Some are repeat offenders, some don't know the rules. Some are smart and kniving, and some don't speak a word of English.

2) Every situation is different. Rules can be broken for a legitimate reason sometimes (see the exceptions section in the rules thread).

Therefore, by definition, no situation can be biased because there are too many different variables to consider.

I got a 5 minute mute for countin down in chat :/ I didn't get a warning

 

The only thing I get mad is when people are muted for 5 minutes without warning. Mutes are the most frustrating thing

 

You'll most certainly be warned before a mute, as that's a near universal practice. Some mods warn in chat rather than by kicking, so that may be where you've missed the warning if you weren't paying attention in chat (the presumption being that if you're spamming chat for a reason that you're actually watching for replies)

 

One time in chat I said, "agfbjen" (exact letters) and got kicked for spam. I said it once but it is only 7 letters! Also, when I report inappropriate players, mods just noticed that and answer like "Ok. Thank you for this report. The player is now muted. This report has been resolved. Report moved to .NET Reports archive." The mods are usually mods on the server when I reported. That's why they said "now". Sometimes they are helping others but others they are just chatting. I'm not going to say any names, but a mod online today, was chatting when I made a double report (Next time I'll get real name proof). I believe mods should scan the chat more than chatting with others. What I do is I help for 10 mins (usually more) then, I chat and if any questions are asked, I answer. Also any green beans out there, only the light blue names to the differ colored names can /enchant or as you say, /god.

 

There's many things that can count as SPAM (Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages), and it sounds that agfbjen certainly counts as pointless and annoying messages.

 

Even though I said it once, I still believe that it is an incorrect kick. It is pointless, but other people's spam took my message away. So I'm not sure what the problem is.

 

Well "wowkejdsj" or whatever you said might seem stupid, right? It doesn't technically serve a purpose other than typing random letters in chat. I typically wouldn't kick if it was just like 7 letters, but maybe 12 or so.
Regardless, it's the moderator's opinion, which all goes back to my initial statement
