For a little while now we've been able to make glass blocks out of glass panes, wich is really helpful. The other day I was talking to some people and we came up with glass being able to un-dye. Since glass is kinda difficult to get it would make building with coloured and regular glass a lot easier.
I was thinking of combining glass blocks and a bucket of water in some way in the craftingtable, getting regular glass and an empty bucket back :)

It’s not helpful when I have 2 double chests of light grey glass and another double chest of grey glass! Would love to be able to reuse them! Support, maybe the crafting recipe can be something like 8 brown glass + 1 white dye to turn it clear? I don’t think we should be able to covert between colours though, i.e brown glass -> purple glass. :)

EDIT: Either I’m blind, or you just added in the water bucket idea... this would also be an okay idea. :)

Support, also maybe the same idea for glass panes? For some reason I have many blue glass panes and I sometimes wish I can convert them into other colors or so.

    Support,

We should do this for wool and glass panes too, I heard you can dye white wool to any color.

partly agree. Not sure if necessary since combining your glass panes with slimeblocks into glass blocks, wich you can then convert into clear glass wich you can then dye to whatever other colour and then convert into panes would be an option if this is added.
wich is a pain to do, but it works :p

I don't think this would be possible. Custom recipes can only produce a single type of item. The crafting table menu only has one output slot, so there would be no way to get your bucket back.

    upload_2018-11-17_8-40-32.png

Filled buckets don't stack either, which means you could not craft multiples of the base recipe at a time. Ideally all ingredients in the recipe should stack to the same level so you can use full stacks of each ingredient to craft multiple items at a time.

Maybe something like blaze powder would work instead. :)

Another thing to keep in mind is that with custom recipes involving items that have a color, each different color counts as a completely different ingredient. This means we have to create 16 different recipes, one for each color of glass to be undyed. It also means it's not possible to mix and match random colors in a single recipe, so all the glass has to be of the same color.

If there was someway to make it possible to un-dye glass with a cauldron like you can do with leather armor, but either way I would support.

You have to balance this right so it doesn't make removing colour overly expensive. So blaze power or bonemeal would be good options

right, that's something i didnt think about! And for the different coloured items not being able to mix when being undyed is something I expected and don't see as a problem. Suggestions like blaze powder or bonemeal could work:)

Support. Considering that you have to make colored glasses 8 at a time, this would be very useful.

Then how does one craft a cake? The bucket would simply stay in the crafting

that what i thought, but maybe that's just too much hassle for custom recipes. :p
edit: and as said, it wouldn't work well with stacks of items

Minecraft's built-in recipes can do special things like that that are not possible with custom recipes.

This idea is great, and would also be nice to see with stained clay too.

I agree with the idea of bonemeal being used, or to add a bit of difficulty maybe glowstone dust?

Mmm, I remember this conversation. yeah, instead of a bucket or bonemeal why not use an ice block in the middle surrounded by the glass? Ice is easily farmable and doesn't require much outside of silk touch, which many people who would be needing this have by now. 100% support though

Support, this is a good idea. The trouble is finding a balance with what item to use for it.
