Posting mine here since I don't have a google account and since I'm basically anonymous with the amount of people who actually know me in the community. And I remember the experience of playing on it very clearly, so I'm deciding to help out here.

When I played skyblock(Survival), I had a great time. However, there was one key thing missing about the skyblock experience. There was no real big challenge in skyblock. If I'm being honest, after I voted for the first time, I realized I had basically won the game due to everything being so cheap. However, some people constructed their own challenges, which ended up being very impressive. I never was a donor, but the amazing community that this server has got me a rank. Honestly the community is one of the best communities I have ever seen and honestly is most of what makes skyblock such an enjoyable server.

Spoiler: Here is where I rant about why I don't really like the over automation of the server

Due to the downright massive amount of automation in skyblock, almost everything is extremely cheap, making the cash you make almost purely dependent off of how quick your farm is and how much storage you have. This over automation kind of takes away from the server in my opinion, as the things you spend time for feels worthless amongst the massive amount of mass-produced things in the server. Honestly the only thing I ever felt like I earned was shulker shells, ores, and quartz, as almost everything else was farmed at very high rates.

Honestly skyblock doesn't have that bad of a lag issue, but this does take away from the server slightly. The restrictions on lag have taken away from the server, as there is the clear lag, which stops water item flow pipes, and basically any item from existing on the ground, and making extreme caution when ever you drop something. Recently the server has begun to lag more often, but this hasn't really affected much except mobs and some redstone stuff.

I honestly was a redstoner, not a builder. I loved this server a lot as I could test redstone machines, then get feedback from the community. I have created a few machines that work based off the server plugins such as a keycard door which works with a double chest with two shops, one accepting the keycard for free, and one giving it for free, measuring the chests individually instead of one because the server is weird. I honestly loved the experience although I did have some restrictions, such as no flying machines, clear lag, and tnt not working whatsoever. However, I never interacted with these much as these were very easy to comply with. Another one of my hobbies was visiting random islands to see the downright awe-inspiring builds the community has made(mostly with schematics, but still amazing) I even created my own island, by hand with no fly, and eventually ended up creating a cute little island with a soul sand area, with bone trees, a volcano area with netherrack, a immense arena that I never got to use due to nobody really attending, and some other things like a church and a graveyard at my island. The skyblock communities wonderful builds(schematics) inspired me to make my own builds with my free time. Honestly it never did feel like survival to me, but that didn't stop me from having fun.

Honestly skyblock does not really feel survival, nor vanilla. With ranks, you could fly around limitlessly, be immortal to all damage, and you were basically in creative with the amount of items the server has in circulation. It never really did feel vanilla either, as the morph and pet plugins existed, but these luckily didn't stray too far from minecraft. Honestly with the power that each server person can get, it kind of lost the "survival challenge" feel that I originally wanted out of skyblock. However, I realized this and eventually started building, and redstone-ing, rather than trying to play it like a survival server, and this became pretty fun and made the experience a whole lot better (Though not many people really did know or visit me.

Spoiler: Basically I talk about the community

I really do love the skyblock community. It is one of the best communities I know of. It is extremely diverse, and strangely seems to get along very well for the most part. The community isn't that organized, and I do wish it was, as the skyblock community can do great feats together, and we haven't really seemed to do that yet. The community is slightly too centered on grass sometimes, with advertisements being the majority of the chat and some parts of the server being solely focused on getting more grass, but the community is also very nice, giving away very large sums of grass and frequently doing drop parties, with the occasional skin competition, which was very boring if I'm being honest because most of the time you just awkwardly sit there, hoping that more people would come so it could start. The community seems to have a strange obsession with alts and name sniping, and I'm not really sure what that's about. This community even extends out of skyblock, sometimes having events in other games, if you're in the discord, which is honestly a pretty unique feature in any community. Anyways I think the skyblock community is great, diverse, obviously has some rough patches, unique, kind, and has amazing potential.

I always did love events. They were fun, and gave a extremely high amount of grass to them. I will admit I was pretty salty because some people were inserting alts in the matches to get more loot, but otherwise they were great events. I do think that the community themselves should organize events, as the community really doesn't like to do that, even though I have seen some pretty impressive things.

Spoiler: The Staff/Player Relationships

Skyblock has always had unique staff, they actually listened to their community and sometimes implemented player wanted-features. Generally, the staff did not abuse their power, but there were a few situations where the community got mad at the staff. Overall the staff were pretty nice, but sometimes they just felt like they were only there to moderate and were simply not on the server otherwise. Basically they were pretty good moderators for the most part, but don't really seem human enough sometimes, with the same exact messages over and over again.

Spoiler: The Rank Stuff

Skyblock ranks cost money, however the community is kind enough to buy you a rank most of the time if you've played for long enough. Honestly I felt like people who spent actual money on this became almost the richest people on the server overnight, but this wasn't really a problem as nobody really wanted to race to the top of the leaderboards, as those really meant nothing. Sometimes you won't get listened to very well if you are a non ranked, which is a problem across almost all communities, but this community definitely has people who break this rule. For the majority of my time as a non ranked, I had a newbie island, but when I had a rank, I felt slightly pressured to improve my island to live up to the other's standards, and I did. In my opinion, ranks did give power, but that power could be given to you by others.

Skyblock is a great server with a diverse community. The experience itself isn't very powerful, due to over automation, a weird economy, basically creative mode with some money, and lack of places to grind while not being afk. Sometimes I feel as if the game lacks new content, such as mob arena which has been "being repaired" over a year, and only a few events happening each year. However, the community was very chill and the server often felt like a great place to relax, rather than play minecraft. The server also has great builds and great redstone, and it's pretty fun to do this while you chill on a chill server. I will admit the restrictions on redstone and building space were kind of annoying and bothersome, but it's pretty amazing to see the community build this great even with these restrictions. Lag is rarely a big issue, but it's always there, which is kind of annoying if I'm being honest. The economy is admittedly a little over focused in certain items while other items are worth cobblestone, but the pursuit of riches in a nice community made the experience fun. Skyblock is a fun place to be in, and definitely has some downsides due to the large and almost ancient playerbase in this server, and this does take away from the skyblock experience, but if I'm being honest, this server is no longer really a skyblock server, but more of a community server mixed in with some economy, making this a very relaxing server to play on, not requiring excessive grinding, unless you want to grind, which you can grind shulkers and quartz, but this server really feels like a special server amongst the servers you will find in minecraft.

This server is honestly my comfort server and pretty nice vibes to it, and I often go here when I need to get rid of stress, as the community is pretty interactive and nice.

Why did I spend entire hour or two on this. Also please rate this with emojis so I can know how good this is, I kind I want to write stuff that's actually good.

Only took 8 years, and they’ve already said “We reserve the right to ignore feedback that is abusive and rude so while you are anonymous please don't use it in a negative way.”- I hope by this they mean general rudeness and OTT comments will be ignored, not complaints.

The results may differ from expectation. Just because I think it’s obvious what people might say doesn’t mean it reflects everyone’s views. It is good to include these “obvious” questions if you want these things to be addressed.

Its sometimes hard to really put across that we aren't trying to benefit just ourselves, we just want a safer and fairer community. And sometimes its hard to get everyone's views because the nature of this forums can be quite intimidating to share without hate etc. I'm happy that people are enjoying giving their feedback and hopefully what we get is a better understanding and we can also make some changes that will immediately impact your experience.
