With the new arrival of minecraft 1.14, it came to me, that the skyblock server is not even updated to the previous edition of minecraft, 1.13. My question is, will this version ever arrive? To back up my point. Ocean life emerged from the 1.13 update. Having ocean life could allow players to do all sorts such as making their very own aquarium! Also, with a 1.13 update, the idea of /warp ocean could arrive where you can explore the oceans, collect coral, kill fish, explore ship wrecks etc. In addition to this, a variety of new blocks arrived in 1.13 and villages got updated (not that villages matter). New blocks would allow players to create more interesting structures and add extra detail to already built structures.
Probably not it can take up to 4 years for the server to be updated to a new version, it takes a really long time to do it and 1.12.2 is best optimized for skyblock adding 1.13 would cause a huge amount of lag
Someone asked this question a long time ago and a moderator replied with it can take up to years for it to happen
That’s very likely an unreliable source. Unless it comes directly from the devs or Crew himself I wouldn’t be repeating stuff like that.
Most of the plugins would be easy to update. The main two issues come down to: Updating the central Skyblock plugin Performance issues 1. With how the main plugin has to be written, and how many differences there are to the API between 1.12 and 1.13, it'd be basically impossible to directly convert the plugin, or at least wildly tedious. Their best plan of action would be to write the plugin from scratch with the 1.13 or 1.14 API, which would also take quite a while to do. 2. The servers already lag a bunch. 1.13 is harder to run than 1.12, and 1.14+ is miles harder to run than 1.12. If the servers are already struggling with 1.12, any newer version will do just that much more damage to performance.
I agree with that, I believe the lag issue could be sorted out easily enough. But then that could also be very expensive.
it could be like the nether resetting every month it could be a purely ocean world but the question holds... how will you find the treasure chests if no land?
