Just curious, why would it be a bad thing to use silk touch on nether ore? Drop rate?

 

When we enabled the Nether, not allowing silk touch to be used on naturally-occurring quartz ore in the nether was one of the more important requirements set by the server owner to ease his concerns about the impact the nether would have on the economy, so we had to fix it when we found out it wasn't working as intended.

 

A question (or two) to add to this: Was this action bannable? And were the current ores obtained by silk touch removed by the people who did it?

 

The bug was only present for a few days and went largely unnoticed due to the low drop rate. It wasn't widely exploited, and with bug fix and the release of the crafting recipe, it's not really worth pursuing further.

 

I wouldn't use "exploited" because I thought you COULD be able to retrieve those ores and it was LEGAL because of the introduction of ores.

 

The confusion is understandable, and I'm not suggesting anyone did it maliciously. Sorry if it came across that way.
