I rarely play but whenever I log on the chat is spammed with advertisers for their islands, during the time I played in classic chat was active and actually had conversations rather than just everyone afking advertising their islands. I suggest to make chat advertisements bannable and encourage the use of /ad.

The problem with /ad currently is that the period you buy for is so low. Instead you should be able to buy for possibly months (the way to rank the top players would be grass per week, so if someone pays 100 grass for a month and another player pays 20 grass for a week the 20 grass would be #1 and the 100 grass would be #2 even tho player 1 paid more) and include chat advertisements for /ad (so new players would go to that).

Support. A rework of /ads is really needed and even though I'm an economy player (not as many ads there) when I do go on survival chat is just disgusting and every normal message is just drowned out by chat ads.

I think this is a pretty decent suggestion,

one of the main reasons I much prefer to be on /economy is because I feel like I’m able to be closer to the community as everytime I’m on sb it just seems to be people advertising in the chats.

taki was able to provide a solution of a sort to this issue - to normalise /ad, which I think is pretty doable. My only concern would be that grey beans may not be able to promote themselves as much as donors since this could get quite competitive?

anyhow I quite like this suggestion so support

Honestly I can definitely see what you mean and I can agree. Chat is like 75% advertisements and barely anyone uses the /ad feature. People use auto advertising which just has alt accounts or even main accounts AFKing for long periods of time, and it all just floods chat. Your suggestion makes sense and would probably help in the long run if implemented. Support.

Drogo would use /ads if it was decent.
Until then then Drogo sees no other way other than advertising in chat. When he doesn’t sales drop off significantly.
Drogo is giving no support as while something is needed, /ads is unworkable and paying for ads is not going to help new players. Drogo thinks a link to a web page that lists players/items/prices and rating system for in stock and accuracy is needed.

How would a new player be able to advertise their new wood shop? I feel like this suggestion is aimed directly at the top players and not taking into account the newer players that would not feel welcomed with this rule in place

    Agreed.

If this was a feature, it’s okay for those that have already established a collection of grass or rare items. However, new players who are trying to gain this will have no way to do so - they wouldn’t be able to purchase a /ad and wouldn’t be able to advertise in chat.
As much as I like the idea to try and mitigate the amount of ads there currently are in chat (/skyblock particularly) I feel it has areas that could ultimately cause new players to not stick around, when we need new members to carry on building up our community.

    No Support, sorry :(

I heavily agree with your point that nowadays the chat seems spammy with ads. Ill give an example to people who don't believe it or won't believe me in general. I was talking to some friends in local chat and I posted a message that was funny. Unfortunately, someone's massive afk ad got in the way and soon my message went up the chat. It's really an annoyance and it doesn't apply to funny messages but important ones as well.

Now the problem I have with that is it would take away normal people who don't use afk ads and/or want to say something that is important or humorous. I don't think banning players for using /ad is necessary but I do agree the use of encouraging it.

The argument of it making it harder for newer players to advertise is outright stupid, if they are new they are likely unranked so advertising in chat is already pretty much useless, even if they are ranked I went on for 10 minutes just to see who is advertising, the list included; Haberson, Drogo, JJ54KES, BGStone, klt and BabyYoda777 advertising for Szehuai. Only one of whom I don't recognise.

Whilst on /ad its the complete opposite for me theres 10 people on there advertising there island only 1 of which I recognise from discord. In my opinion advertising in chat is shown to a lot more players than /ad, so having these advertisements in chat hurt new players rather than benefit them.

I don’t appreciate being called stupid for voicing my opinion on a suggestion - it’s just my own opinion and we are all entitled to one.

I do think that it would be harder for newer players to earn a living on the server as they wouldn’t have the resources to purchase an ad upon joining the server, and if it was illegal to advertise in chat they would just be stuck without grass to advertise.
Furthermore, those who benefit from a kit have a better advantage in /ads and therefore those who aren’t ranked would still be disadvantaged as they wouldn’t be able to compete with those with more grass from their kits.

But that’s just my personal opinion.

yeah those definitely are some of the names that i ALWAYS see when i'm on /skyblock

regarding your suggestion, i also had similar concerns as craney, except i don't think i phrased myself as well as craney did. however i still think that something should be done about the chat advertisements
to an extent i agree with drogo, that chat advertising is a huge part how many people are able to promote their shops. so i think that maybe with your suggestion we can look to suggest for having a cooldown with chat advertisements instead of completely banning them so that the chat isn't constantly and completely flooded with afk advertisements instead of completely banning them. this would perhaps encourage more people to use /ad to advertise as well as check /ad for shops instead

I could see this working but would have to be limited to somewhere in the range of every 5 minutes. Currently I see them being every minute possibly lower (I never timed it). But by doing this, /ad's implementation is completely futile.

    Gonna go with a support!

This is a beautiful and amazing idea because this will get new players a better chance to be seen. In chat, many non ranks are ignored, and the only time they may be noticed, is when they need help, then everyone jumps in and then leaves them be later. They aren’t very recognized on Survival in my opinion. It’s better to have an /ads work up because it’d be much more efficient for everyone so our eyes don’t get blinded by the absurd amount of colour displayed in chat, literally hurts my eyes. Though I don’t think this is needed on Economy if ever suggested. Because Economy is a bit smaller than Survival and everyone is recognized and acknowledged so, no offense but it’s true. So it’s a support from me because it’s not very expensive and I’m pretty sure some people would be nice enough to donate 1 grass minimum. And chat would be much more chatty than advertising.

Support. Chat Ads are really annoying and make up too much of the chat. However /ads is not very well known and there should be a way to make /ads well known. Honestly for now though /ads is a great place to check out newbie shops and occasionally get a great deal. However I am slightly against the buying for extended periods of time because new players need to advertise also.

This makes sense. Perhaps it would be beneficial to occasionally promote /ads in chat like with some of the other chat things like "If your lava turns into obsidian, right click it with a bucket to get the lava back!" or something like that

Maybe people should start out with a tutorial book in their spawn chest? Make sure it is free though just in case they lose their book.

I like the suggestion, but I’m not a huge fan of chat advertisements being bannable. I think first offenders should be warned, then muted, and then banned. /ads would essentially need a whole revamp, but I think it would be possible to do. It will just take a bit of time for players to adapt to using /ads to advertise rather than chat.

Ngl but I paid like 20+ grass in /ad but for some reason it didnt even put my ad up there. But I support this idea. The amount of times an annoying ad, especially the loooong ones like Triggered 's casino ad (no hurt plz) really got to me. So having the ads on /ad and making it yet more popular as not much people use it would really help
