Dear Skyblock Economy community: We all know that TPS is low right now. And I know many people on here demand a fix. We love to complain and scream: Fix it! But no one tells how. Dex confirmed more than one time that the server is maxxed out on every hardware issue possible and that especially Crop Hopper Farms might be a reason for the issue. We need changes in order to survive. And pls stop complaining and not suggesting solutions. I think it is rude to say “Staff/Devs are not doing anything”. Herewith I am suggesting a couble of changes that could help with our server performance. I know, some of them will affect me and you in our previous playing behavior. But that's just how it is. Disable Moss Growing I know I know, we have all talked about it and it is not fixable rn, but now it needs to be the no. 1 Priority to fix. And here’s why. Every Server has a lifecycle and growth in activity until it becomes unplayable and needs a reset or shutdown. Our playability is depending on the amounts of actively used crophopper farms. And it is the difficulty of the economy and obtainability of dirt that slows down that process as good as possible to keep a server reset far away in the future. My theory is that in the past monts since the 1.19 Update our growth of crophopper farms has exploded exponentially. First by moss being a replacement material for dirt, enabling us to build farms at double speed, second by building machines that could produce moss in no time and therefore lowering cost on up to 15 skybucks per two chunks, and third by reenabling sugarcane growth on moss for crophopper farms which require almost no monetary investment into crophopper farms. The amount of new chunks with a crophopper in 2023 has grown so fast like prob in the past 2-3 years altogether. We know that there can be a certain amount of max crophoppers for a healthy server and we reached that limit now and we reached it too fast. By disabling moss we will have fewer active crophopper chunks and a healthier growth. People using moss were doing it knowing it was never intended that way and will ahve to deal with the consequences, they already made enough money this year, so they are already compensated that way. Re-Evaluate Alt-Policy As of now people are allowed to have alt-accounts. I do not want to ban alt-accounts. I think they are nice If you are building a second world with a different theme or you wanna separate private matters and public traffic. All fine. But Alts are mostly used to being afk and earning money on crophopper farms. They not only earn money while being inactive, they also negatively impact the server performance for active players at all times. We cannot punish being afk and earning money with crophopper farms, but we need to limit the maximum performance decrease a player can cause by saying the following: Have as many alt accounts as you want But you are not allowed to be logged in with 1 account at a time, not two at the same time. Decreasing the amount of active chunks around a player Yes, this will affect also me, but I take this one. Dex explained that the amount of active chunks around a player has increased from 5 to 7 at the beginning of the year. But it was not being declared as a feature and subject to removal if needed. I think now is the time to decrease the amount of active chunks for a player. Precalculate /baltop once a day /baltop can decrease TPS when the results are recalculated. I suggest that they should only be calculated once a day. It doesnt matter whos baltop a few minutes later.
Must be solved with VPN or requesting an exception then. Afterwards you could introduce check logs like are both equally active or one mainly being afk. Or maybe not disallowing it by join policy but if there are two players with same ip mods can check for it if one is just inactive.
Hard disagree with disabling moss growth, it would just make it harder for people to get into making croppers, which is where the big money is at, and also makes it harder to make tree, bamboo and azalea stuff farms.
Well thats the whole point of crophopper farms. We do not give away free money. Establishing a passive income must be earned. This server cannot host all Players owning Crop Hopper farms. Therefore the establishment of such Machines must be kept limited with high barriers. We previously had that high barrier with doing it on dirt only. Then Moss came and upstirred it all. Good for the people, but bad for the TPS. Also other farms should be made with dirt. Dirt is the main resource and source for income by farming. Moss destroyed it. Remember this is an economy, and we need to maintain the environment playable.
Fix variable shop sell prices. If it would actually nerf sell prices to the ground when millions of a certain crop is sold then players would be disincentivized to build those farms or continue making them larger. Crops which are automated and sold en masse should cause sell prices to fall, as opposed to variable pricing doing whatever the hell it wants. In turn, the price of harder to automate crops, which players are more likely to be manually harvesting, will increase.
No support. Both servers have always allowed alts so there was always the intention for players to AFK. Players have paid money and time to rank these players up and build up their islands so there would need to be compensation for monies already spent. According to Noobcrew there is no leaderboards so /bal top can go. If there was a reduction in farming range, there would be a call for a buy back scheme for wasted dirt. There have been a number of suggestions that might work to lessen the load on the server without further restrictions. I’d like to hear reasoning against those from Dex before placing further restrictions on players.
Honestly... no. I feel like even though I am not too big on eco anyway, I do feel like this would not benefit the server as well as you think it may. People may be happy about the TPS being fixed, but it'd be overshadowed by people complaining about other stuff that could easily be avoided.
Funny, I didnt get any refund for Overlord Rank getting removed. I feel like this is no problem for them. I remember Dex saying that there is no guarantuee for the 7x7 range staying, so people did it on their own risk. Same as with moss. So the server shouldn't feel obligated to buy back.
I thought that was a different server. I could be wrong. Economy ranks last forever. The only thing that has been stated with certainty was that there would be an increase from the old 5x5. The smallest increase possible is 7x7.
