Global Nerf Island value of stone bricks.

Drogo is suggesting that the island value gained from stone bricks be brought down a bit.

This has been a long time coming as various people have pushed their island levels up by placing massive amounts of stone bricks.

Drogo doesn't think that stone bricks, being one of the easiest and cheapest blocks to obtain on mass, should have much of a value with regard to island level.

Just one of Drogo's stone gen's could produce enough stone to completely fill a 199x199x256 block in under 20 days.
The use of esycraft client to easily convert that to stone bricks would probably add a week or so and this could probably be automated. Then the use to Baritone or Schematica to build it.
It might take a couple months in all but would yield an island level of over 200,000.
Drogo is pretty sure the value of stone bricks is about 0.02 levels per block.

 

Neutral. They nerfed other blocks too much but I don't mind if stone bricks get a bit of a nerf and not a whole full scale nerf. Maybe from 0.02 to 0.01 or 0.008 idk

 

If nerfed, there should also be a forced recalculation of all island levels otherwise people currently at the top of /leaderboard will become untouchable if they never type /level.
This could easily be done by recalculating island levels on player's first login after the update and/or manually for those specifically in the top 20-100 to make the "new" leaderboard fair.

Wow, Stone Bricks are OP? That came outta nowhere for me. But yeah, the math checks out. Support!

 

Drogo is fairly sure those that have taken the tact of increasing island level with stone bricks will suspect this coming.

support for all reasons above, Houzo made a good point for well designed islands getting rewarded with level whilst miji gave a perfect solution to fixing the island leaderboards.

Support. About 20% of my /level is from stone bricks, but it's a library and not a cube. I'll gladly take the hit. Something that easily farmable shouldn't be worth as much as it is. I'm against giant cubes of bookshelves as well but at least those require multiple farms and a lot of manual tedious crafting to create.

 

Also worth mentioning a few months back I bought an island in the top 5 just so I could reset it and get rid of said cube

Easy support. I just went to take a look for myself at the top islands, and they're basically just stone brick cubes disguised as shops. Nerfing it would allow those who put more thought in to their islands to get recognition for it. There isn't really any reason why stone brick should have such an enormous weight when it is so easy to make.

This isn't to say that all the top islands are bad just because of the quantity of stone bricks, but I do feel like its hiding so much talent from those using a wider range of blocks

I can't imagine this being a hard change and it really has no down sides. Currently a full platform of stone bricks on a 99x99 island gives 200 levels, around 445 on 149x149 and about 790 on 199x199. This seems like a very high amount for such an obtainable item like stone brick. I think value should be AT LEAST halved because even then it's still 100, 222.5 and 395 per 1 platform

As everyone else has said /leaderboards should be for the best islands, not the islands who can place more of a useless block than another player
