I have an "AD crate key" in my inventory and I don't know what it does

    I bought this key on the /ah and I don't know what it does

    Hiya,
    These keys currently don't have a function. I believe that this is a crate that is / was planned to be added but never was and therefore keys were around, players are still trading them etc. The key is pretty much a vanity item - it has no purpose and we just don't know if and when it will ever have a purpose.

    Ad crate keys cannot be used unfortunately. I heard from somewhere that they were accidentally implemented with a plugin and obtained by watching adverts. Due to some kind of copyright thing though, the plugin was deleted. Not really sure about all the details, but if you are really interested, I’m sure RedstoneTrails would be happy to explain. Don’t quote me on that one.

    Here's the link to my original reply for you to read if you wish. They weren't added accidentally, it just wasn't expected how quickly they were abused.

    You can still get them today using /ad. If you put in some time, you can get around 5-8 per day. They have no real value or purpose, and may never have either. You mostly just get them to say you have them.
