Don't you hate having to type or paste you color codes every time you wanna chat? Are you jealous of Myrmidous' hardcoded prefix <#>?

I was getting annoyed that I didn't have this function built into my client. I use to frequent a forum, and I used a third party app that allowed me to format my post on there so I wouldn't have to copy and paste, and wanted something similar.

That's when I found TabbyChat. This mod is very powerful, but requires learning a form of code that could give you a headache. And with this server having prefixes, gives more challenge for organizing messages, but fear not! I will show you how to set it up so that your chat feels more intuitive, and easy to use.

THE CURRENT GUIDE IS FOR TABBYCHAT 2 FOR MC 1.10.2 & 1.11.2
MOST VERSIONS OF TABBYCHAT HAVE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT
OPTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO FILTERING

For those of you who have never installed a mod before, the process is pretty simple.

Step 1) For simplicity, I'd suggest MultiMC. It's a great way to start modding without a lot of hassle.
    Get MultiMC: MultiMC

Step 2) Get TabbyChat: TabbyChat 2 - SMP Chat Overhaul (New Maintainer) - Minecraft Mods - Mapping and Modding - Minecraft Forum - Minecraft Forum
(Be sure to download both the mod, and the base mod, for the intended version of minecraft you want to install it to.)

Step 3) Once MultiMc is installed:
    a) Create a new instance, be sure to select intended version of Minecraft. Since Tabbychat isn't available for 1.12 at the time of writing this, I'd suggest 1.11.2, or 1.10.2
    b) Highlight this new instance, and press "Edit Instance"
    c) Click the button labeled "Install Liteloader" and select the recommended build. Click ok.
    d) Under "Edit Instance", on the left, click the "Loader Mods" section, the click the add button to the right.
    e) Locate your download .litemod files, and either double click each one, or highlight them both and hit open.

Step 4) I'd suggest going back to the main MultiMC window, and clicking the computer/screwdriver icon AKA "Change Settings" section. And under "Java", set your ram, and check your java version. And lastly, under "Accounts" go ahead and add your account.

Step 5) You are now ready to launch! This is the part where once you get logged in, and everything is working, you'll need to set up TabbyChat.

Following steps a-b will give you a tab for each unique player that looks a bit like this:

Following steps c-e will give you a unique tab, that when you type, a prefix will automatically be added in front of what you say, including color codes, like this:

Just expand the section with the version of TabbyChat you are using.

    1.10.2:

    1.11.2:

    General knowledge of TabbyChat:

Enabling Channels or Messages isn't beneficial on Skyblock.net.
If you want to close a message tab, do not right-click and forget, just shift left-click it.
    Anti-spam is your friend.
Log chat with time stamp for all those pesky rule breakers.

I thought it was just a chat prefix, whenever he speaks it's automatically there?

From what I understand, and from what Myrm said in chat, yes. If I'm wrong, then feel free to correct me.

He coded it himself into his Minecraft files. I don't think it's a command though, he added it manually.

See that's pretty clever, the only slight issue is changing it? I mean I guess why would you want to? But having to restart the client to make the change seems painful.

I wouldn't expect a video to be much more helpful. But I could help you with TeamViewer? I don't know if you've ever used it, but with your permission, it would allow me to help you, by letting me control/see your desktop? The only issue is the fact that it would require a level of trust. And I can understand if that's out of reason. I of course would be disconnected while you handle your personal info (password and whatnot), but besides just being more specific on the problems you'll face, I'm not sure what I could show you on video that isn't described here.
