The world is in a tough crisis right now. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and are being forced to stay at home, for our own good. Many of us want to help with the coronavirus, but are unsure how to do so. But there is a way.

Folding@Home is an application that folds proteins on your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and sends them back to the lab. The proteins are from many different diseases, but currently, you are able to select to do proteins for the coronavirus.
Here is a explanation for what it is:
You can learn more about that on Covid19 – Folding@home

But, I wanted to share something else.

The cool thing about folding at home is that there are "teams." You can join them, and as your computer folds proteins, you earn points, that are then added to your teams score. There is a leaderboard on the team, and a team leaderboard to show the teams with the most points.

So I made a skyblock team. Together, we can all use the little extra bits of GPU power to help cure coronavirus.

To make an account, go to Start folding – Folding@home
**WHEN PROMPTED TO ENTER A TEAM CODE, THE TEAM CODE IS 265526**

We are all in it together, and we can use our extra computer power to help cure COVID.

Don't worry, I gave proper credit to Noobcrew, he will appear as the founder, and I will take it down if I am asked to do so.

If anybody needs any help or has any questions, feel free to reply to the thread, and I will help you to the best of my ability.

This would also work well if you have any old laptops or computers lying around. You can download the program, sign in with your account, and help cure COVID-19

You don't have to do anything, it is a program that does it by itself.

How does it get proteins to send them to a lab?

Folding at home is an intermediary. They send the application on your computer the protein, it folds it, and it sends it back to folding at home, which then sends it to the lab.

It doesn't need some crazy internet connection or anything, just a minium of probably around 1mbps download and 1mbps upload, to make it so it doesn't take too long :p

This isn't actually you doing protein folding. There's a machine that uses enzymes and heat to fold the proteins at their labs, but the machine has limited computing power. That's why they're basically asking to borrow the extra computing power that you don't use on your computer to help them do their calculations. Your computer only sends them the data for the machine to physically process into folded proteins

Tbh I used to do it to get some extra cool stuff on another game like 4 years ago so I basically know what this thing is.

This is a great idea I’ve been using this since the pandemic started and it’s nice to be able to contribute even if just a little.
