How old are you? I am 16 years old. What timezone are you in? EST (Indianapolis) What country do you live in? United States What languages do you speak? English, some Spanish, and some French. Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?) Not from this server. However I did get banned from another server for using a texture pack other than the one they required (They use a modified one for their war server, I was using a realistic texture pack). Why do you think you should be a mod? I have a wide range of experience with programming and server management. I previously ran a server hosted by Fragnet, which we then moved to McProHosting for more features. What qualifications do you have? I have made plugins for my server which ran bukkit. I have experience with Python, Java, C++, PHP, and HTML. I'm trained in DDOS Control and work side-by-side with the High School IT who is a cyber security specialist. I have used many different means of configurations for servers which have ranged from changing everything manually via FTP to automatic everything with McMyAdmin. How long can you be active on the server everyday? I play, on average, 1-4 hours a night on school nights and anywhere from 1-~6 per day on weekends. I am quite busy on weekdays and am occasionally booked on weekends! How long have you been playing skyblock.org? Almost 2 weeks here in the past month. I know I played long ago on and off when you guys were first getting started. It wasn't until recently that I became more interested. The server has become more developed and popular. Do you have any past experience as a moderator? Yes. Anywhere from the lower ranks to the highest and even an operator/owner. I worked with hundreds of plugins ranging anywhere from account security, automatic backups, and chat tools to the more advanced like world edit and permissions (when I ran a server we used Permissions EX). Extra Qualifications to Make Note of (updated 12/11/14): I was playing over the weekend and someone joined who was spamming aggressively. They were advertising another server and there weren't any staff members online. It seems that more often than not when I am playing, there aren't staff members on. I quickly took matters into my own hands and alerted players to move to local chat and /ignore to avoid him/her private messaging the IP to them. I vaguely remember a couple of players fill out reports while I viciously replied at the spammer who we were all tired of. After making my 3rd and final threat towards his server, he finally left. I hate having to resort to threatening to take care of these things. This post can be seen either way by my fellow players and staff members, but take time to see the overall picture here. I could have taken care of this much faster as a moderator. The threats were more of an eye opening to him and his server. I had 100% access to their FTP server. I proved this pretty quickly by removing him as OP. I would never do anything to harm their server, even though I very well could have. Please keep this in mind when making your final decision. I totally understand that we can never have staff online all of the time, but by hiring me, it would fill in a huge gap where we do not have staff available to help out. Thank you
Mkay so here is the biggest reason for me not giving you support: well you literally just joined the forums yesterday, and you have only been playing org for 2 weeks. So, you should probably try for moderator later, and by that I do not mean next week, or this month, I mean later, once you get very familiar with all rules and shinanigans and the forums itself. I say this to you now so you do not repeat the mistake of creating many mod applications within a small span of time like many others. And so I'm going to give you advice now for future reference: 1. In the past bans section you do not need to input your simple wrongdoings from other servers being it has nothing to do with noobcrews servers or specifically the server you are applying for. 2. You need a lot more detail than that to convince people (and more importantly, noob and cyp) in your reasons to be a moderator section. I suggest looking through other peoples mod apps that have been successful to see what I mean 3. I think that everything you put in your qualification area should go in a separate paragraph after the past experience section, for more organization. And for qualities we mean things like kindness, patience, etc.... So now that I explained all the detail you are missing in the application, good luck c: cheers xx
Thank you! I understood when I applied that I most likely would lose some support due to having played so little. I was hoping for that to be ignored with my extensive knowledge with programming and running servers in the past, but I understand your reasoning. In reply to your ban note. I figured that was more of a broad topic. I figured it was to list reasons I've ever been banned from servers (just a recommendation: you should probably clarify that in the actual form.)
Good app, but I still think you are very new to the community. For the moment, only half support c: Good luck though!
I am going to be honest here I don't think programming has anything to do with being a good moderator. You are really friendly, decently active and relatively new to the server [edit] removing my 25% support to no support because of this
Thank you ALL for taking time to reply! Those of you who did not give full support: I understand, the overall message is spend more time in forums and online. I'm getting much better about being online. In the last few days, my island has more than tripled in size. I will try to get on the forums more. I have never been one to get on forums sites for anything other than advice or to read something funny. Ill try to get better now
No support. You threatened To DDos another player You threatened to DDos a player Programming has nothing to do with moderating, no matter how much you think it does. If you want to program, apply for developer. Forums activity More detail You're so new, that you'd have to update your application every couple days to keep it accurate. And you're not supposed to threaten rule breakers. Report them.
