Desktopa are much more reliable and are easier and cheaper to fix. Not sure if it's concenient to get one. In any case, waiting weeks for a laptop fix is still outrageous. Where are you getting it fixed?
easy; insert windows repair drive (need to create it from another windows PC, I personally have one safely kept in case anything happens), check for disc errors, wait 20min - 4 hours, then it should work. Be sure to remove the drive after it is completely finished (COMPLETELY finished!), should boot as normal
It's called a "RECOVERY" drive. Bet if you google something along the lines of windows recovery you will find it. Just need another PC to set it up with. (requires empty USB stick)
Probably a good idea to reinstall windows. Just get a usb of about 8GB and download the OS, then set it as your boot device, and clear the partitions on your main drive.
