Spambots and moderators.

We need more forum dedicated moderators. Spambots are so common to be seen it's sad like today in the timezone GMT+8 this what the Discussion and Off Topic forums looked like, filled with spambot threads. Some of these I had reported at least half an hour to an hour earlier and still were not deleted and banned. I would of thought eventually some staff member would of seen them at least. I know moderators are usually in game therefore busy but honestly it's not too hard to tend to the forums or set some time to sort them, I know that. I'm not saying moderators are lazy but I'm just saying it would be nice to see more active mods in this timezone so I'm not constantly reporting them. This timezone really needs more. Krissy (who is staff but is just waiting for her rank back) can't do everything at once, everyone has their limits of what they can do.

 

True dat. I was considering making a thread about it myself but it seems you got there first. I'm afraid we simply need more activity from people from +7 to +12 (so basically Australia, NZ, Asia and Pacific islands).
Either we update the forums sooner that than later or we need more forum-active mods. Apparently once the forums are updated we shouldn't encounter half as many bots. Looking forward to that.

Cyp said he would update the forums soon, like on Mineverse which got rid of 99% of the spambots when he added something.

 

I suggested Forum Mods before, I'll rethink the idea and suggest it again.

 

Still need more active mods on the forums.

 

For me in my opinion it doesn't have to be a moderator. it could be hand-picked trustworthy members. There is so many abilities in changing the settings so they just have permissions to deleting and looking at reports for example. ^-^

I had the same problem on another server I moderated on. We used Xen Foro also, and we got anti-spam software from Surrey Forum - The free online Surrey community

It's called Tac Anti Spam, and we haven't had any problems since. The only way anyone can spam is if they do it manually, which is time consuming and futile.

 

Also, you may wan't to use FoolBotHoneyPot, although it is a paid plugin for Xen Foro it would prevent all bots from registering, ending spam at the source.
