Not sure if this has been spoken of yet, but having the crop hoppers only sell if the player that placed them is online is a poor decision. Imo. I've been using my afk account to load my old profit shop Island crop hoppers, and would usually keep the account on all day and night. This keeps my farms loaded and the crop hoppers working. However if my main account isn't online. Then I'll have been afking for no use, as none of the hopper sales would be added.

A change could be that crop hoppers will auto sell and give profits to the player that placed them. If any player is loading the croppers.

That was my afk can load my bigger profit shop Island. And I'd actually be receiving the balances from it if my main has logged off.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

You can just replace the cropper with the alt account and continue the afk.

That is an option, but then I'd be forever swapping and replacing the crop hoppers if I don't have my other afk online for them. My idea being that any player that visits your islands, whilst loading the crop hopper the island owner would still receive the balance even if they're offline. My briefingapple5 Isle gets visited all throughout the day with players buying from the spawn shops, it would be a shame not to receive the balance from our farms when they visit, and likewise keeping an afk account on the isle

I would agree that it would be a nice feature to add because everyone likes the extra bal, but I think that staff want to get away with the afk grindset of eco, and making easier for people to get bal without being online helps promote that. However it would be nice to get a little extra bal when people visit your island.

I think from a logical pov it doesn’t really make much sense when a farm is loaded and isn’t producing any crops at all does it? There must have been some sort of opportunity cost that was weighed up before implementing the new crop hopers, and I’m interested to see their reasoning for it!

They where implement to reduce automated pumpkin farms which very heavily taxing on the server due to the collection systems, piston pushes, and observer checks. They wanted to make farming large amounts of crops easier on the server to stop the use of large scale contraption such as an automated pumpkin farm.

Making money while offline was a big part of the old server. It didn't need to depend on high resource consuming designs. I had my crop hoppers deposit to chests passively. And while offline, I had the chance with the help of /ads that someone would visit and buy something.

There were two ways to make money while offline. Actively produce something while online that you can sell while offline. Have a creative design that can passively produce something and sold at any time. This 2nd option seems to be dying.

Designing a profit shop that would work without crop hoppers, would require going back to inefficient designs. Those with redstone circuits, pistons, water streams, etc. I believe this would be more taxing on the server than having the old crop hoppers as an alternate option.

But moving away from profit shops, I thought the meta would be to provide free stuff, free services, or simply entertainment to keep the island active, so the owner can still make money while offline out of the new crop hoppers. But now there's no point to that.

So instead of easy ways to make balance while offline, it's more efficient for the player to sit AFK all day, or have alternate accounts. How does this affect server resources?
