Yes I realize the server could not physically actually handle 90 billion islands, I was just pointing out if it was portrayed as lack of actual island space that isn't the issue, file storage on the other hand yes that could eventually become an issue
Having to reset the entire server wouldn't be needed in my opinion. When people ask for a reset its often because there are no new blocks or the prices of some items are too high or too low. Crew can rather update the server instead to the next version that is capable of running the server without causing too much lag although, he has stated in the past that older versions are the least laggiest and newer updates tend to cause a lot of lag. However, he has made an announcement that an update will be coming very soon though it will probably not be the latest update due to the number of new items and bugs that would be present as well as security updates that tend to follow from one update to the next. You would also need to update the various protections that have kept us from bot raids and spamming. Only people old enough will know what I am talking about (it was kinda funny ngl). I could be wrong on this since im no programmer or data security analyst but there's probably not as much software for the newer versions that fit the needs for skyblock. The economy cannot be changed because it's a player-driven economy with some restrictions put in place. Not much to discuss with that imo. With ranks I do think we should keep them since we did pay for it and put so much time into the server. I really don't see a reset happening soon cause so many people have put so much effort into creating their islands and it would not be well received by many people who put a lot of time into building.

i too would cry if there was a reset. What they did from classic to current day skyblock was good and that could easily be done again if needed to right?
If there would ever be a reset, which I don't see coming any time soon (even 2b has waited years to update past 1.12.2), I think the most likely option for Crew to do is to do the same as with Classic - ie keep the islands on a separate server. The islands were kept in Classic and we just moved to a new server because the updating would change too much (ik this bc I was there like a week after the whole thing moved). Any donation-based perks would obviously stay. But even then I don't think right now there is a positive enough consensus for a "reset" (see OP's poll).
if they wipe everything I will lose all the memories and builds with my sister and friends when I was around 12 (now 18) itll be a sad day
