Global Reduce the drop rate of netherrack

So, here I am again with another suggestion.

The Problem: Currently, every block but netherrack has its drop rate reduced in the nether. Netherrack, being the odd one out, is currently worth nothing (even less than cobblestone).

Why this is a problem: This is a problem because netherrack is so worthless that people have to throw it out of their inventory when they go mining for anything else in the nether; it quickly clogs up inventories and store inventories, as no one even wants to buy it.

The solution:
1) Reduce the drop rate of netherrack to 1/32
2) Make it increase island level a bit more than it currently does.

Why this is a solution: This would make netherrack something that people would no longer throw away. Instead, people would be able to sell each stack that they got, letting them (and the people who buy the netherrack) to profit just a little more. Although the value of netherrack would not increase immediately, the combination of the island level buff (even though it wouldn't be huge) and the reduced drop rate should make it something that people no longer actively throw away, and would allow for people to create shops for netherrack.

Downsides: Currently, I do not see any downsides to this suggestion, if you spot any be sure to let me know and I will edit them into downsides, appropriately respond in an area above, and edit my suggestion to remove or limit the downside as much as possible.

P.S. This is something that I would really like to see happen, it would make life so much better for me and everyone else who spends their time mining in the nether. I deleted my previous suggestion because I didn't quite frame the suggestion correctly.

Full sopport. This is quite an annoying issue for me too, purely as it fills up inventory space. Im not bothered about the fact it doesn't sell as i dont think its something alot of people look out for to buy. But i still think this is a great idea.

Reducing the drop rate of netherrack would further increase the price of nether bricks. However, I don't see this becoming a huge issue, as nether brick isn't heavily sought after, and the reduce in drop rate shouldn't impact the price too much-- mining the netherrack isn't what takes the time in producing nether bricks.

Making it have worth would be a great idea. Heck, maybe change it to 1/64 for a month then to 1/32 to accelerate the distribution of it through the economy, so that its not just people holding onto the dc's they already have and getting more, but so that it relatively shuts off all netherrack incoming so that it gets worth faster.

 

I definitely support this, I always find it very annoying when I'm mining for quartz or nether brick and I have 5 pieces of quartz yet 6-7 stacks of netherrack. It's just unnecessary, if everything was either buffed to normal it would be better or if it all was buffed down.

I like the idea, but i think Netherrack's like this because you're supposed to use it as a throwaway material like Cobblestone (like using for building fast, bridging, etc.)

 

Even so, it is possible to instabreak netherrack with a diamond pick that costs ~1-2 grass. With a 1/32 drop rate, it would still be possible to acquire large quantities of netherrack in short periods of time.
Secondly, cobblestone is easily available in shops, while netherrack isn't. Making netherrack increase island level more would incentivise people to both buy and sell it, stimulating the economy.

I would tend to agree with this Moe - IF - and only IF - the drop rate for netherbrick in a fortress was increased.
I personally quite like the std and red netherbrick - but I hate the smelting and requiring 4 stacks of Netherrack to get 1 stack of netherbrick. It would at least allow people to mine out a fortress?

yes! even tho it's nice to get so much netherrack if you smelt it into bricks, 9/10 times you just have way to much of it after youve been to the nether

 

support it would be nice since it's one of the easiest blocks to break so don't see any harm in lowering the drop rate

 

Support. Drives me crazy with the amount of netherrack that keep on filling your inventory and have to get rid of them once a while

 

No support, netherack is an amazing block as scaffolding for those without /fly and a good starter building block for graybeans. its easy to obtain and I see no reason to ruin that. If it clogs up your inventory just do ctrl + Q, not that hard.
