Archie, as much as I agree with you, I've told you in dms a few times that you should stop being disrespectful to staff before you get perma'd, it will happen eventually - don't think that it won't (please edit the post like I've asked you to).

It isn't only the fact that moderation over the past few years has slipped - its always been like that. I may be thinking too much of classic, and may not be prevelant to time - but about now there's so much restriction/censorship there is today compared to Classic is absurd. To the point where slightly mispelling a name is considered innappropriate? What is this, a 2nd grade school playground?

It's one thing to honor one's death respectively (be it in his own words) and it's another thing to judge one's opinion about it publicly. Think of it like this; I honor a certain figure's death but I do not honor the protests about it. Someone then decides to tell me I'm wrong, I'm immature, just for voicing my opinion. That's almost exactly what's happened here, hasn't it? (of course it's not an opinion being voiced, its a death honory).

I'm sorry Agent, and I don't want to be rude, but this is just a bit over the top, don't you think? I get that you're trying to show that the server won't tolerate inappropriate comments, but its almost communism at this point.

Finally on a serious note, you're not even going to allow Bert to respond/stand up for what he (and all of us) are saying by muting him? I've talked with him about it and he did not at all intend this to be disrespectful in any way - he's always said "wakanda5ever" in the server's chat before his death. He's shocked, but at the same time he understands where you're coming from. He thinks it's extreme, and I agree with him.

 

I assumed the way he said it wasn’t liked, I didn’t realize he also got muted because of it. I personally thought even bringing this up on the application wasn’t exactly necessary however muting him for it when many people have said worse things and gotten off with warnings in the past seems a bit odd.

I do however think that a few of us have been a bit disrespectful here. I get that some of you are angry and even upset but please be mature about this and have a proper discussion instead of attacking each other. That’s not the way to go.

Personally I think this was handled a bit harshly but let’s bring up concerns wisely and not disrespect our fellow Skyblock members. We all want the best outcome at the end of the day, so it’s best to keep things civil.

 

The reason I disagreed with you is because I see Bert almost on all the time, chat active in fact. He’s actually always helping whenever someone asks for help and always lends a helping hand. I’m not sure about if you see him online but anytime I look on tab, I still see both of your names there so you might just be AFK or something and plus Bert’s in Jordan and you’re in the USA so there could be some time zoning issues. But that’s your opinion but I simply disagree with it. + resupport for My Bert

 

Why did this turn into a discussion thread over a misunderstanding?

 

honestly, we all make mistakes and no matter what we do we may offend people even if it isn’t our intention to do so.

bert has been apart of the sb community for a long while, and I’m sure many of us has to an extent, had a chance to interact with Bert to know that this was all unintentional. we all make mistakes, and it’s a chance for growth.

although I’m not particularly fond of the way agent brought this issue up seeing as she did come off a bit harsh, she also had the right to voice her concerns / feelings and to bring this up for discussion.

Like I said, no matter what we do there are bound to be people who may disagree / feel offended, etc. I think the best thing Bert can do is to take this as a learning experience - to be more cautious and considerate with his words especially during sensitive moments, so that he can be a better version of himself in the future.

anyhow bert, you still have my support, as I believe that you’ll take this as a chance to reflect and learn. You’ve always been someone whose considerate, friendly and dedicated. It’d be unfair to let a once-in-a-while mistake define you.

 

Like Eunice has mentioned, when it comes down to it, people may genuinely feel offended and that's something to always take into consideration when responding to these sorts of issues. The punishment given and Bert not being able to defend himself publicly is another thing, but please understand that it's valid for people to have taken it negatively.

Always be respectful. If some of us think that the punishment was harsh, that's fine as well have our own opinions, however do remember that not everyone shares the same views.

Bert is a friendly person and I stick by my support. He's active and helpful in chat.
I do believe Bert did not intend for any of this to happen and that this was a very big misunderstanding, so I will not change my mind on supporting his application.

After seeing the status Bert wrote as well as reading over through what others have said, personally I don't think muting bert and not giving him a platform to speak his thoughts is a justifiable thing. We can agree to an extent that what bert said in his status isn't the most mature thing, then again there have been far worse things that have happened and there hasn't been much discussion over it, unless you do force the mods into the picture.

We all have said things in the past (including me) that shouldn't have been said or at the least should've been phrased better. Eunice even states that we say things that we have no intention of doing. But regardless it shouldn't mean to block the person from letting themselves add their opinion and maybe an apology, if needed. Of course like everything in this world, there are exceptions to this. This includes a few mods and admins (includes one person that has a C in the beginning and a S in the end).

Please take this as a learning curve to both you the few mods (some of you know who I am talking about) and future players reading this to note that you are never alone when you do make a mistake don't feel bad about it. You will always have support


As far as my support status, I am still supporting bert and you won't change my decision. Bert has proven himself to not only be a great friend to have fun around with but also someone who can help out in chat and be an open staff member who is honest. Anyways I didnt expect this to blow over especially on my application. Thank you all for your support and standing up for me. I really would like to deeply apologise if what I said offended anyone or was seen as disrespect to Chadwick. I know his death was a shock to all of us even myself who didnt believe it at first but life passes on, all we can do is move on and he will be forever in our heart. It's True that I've always said "bleck penther" and wakanda5ever multiple times in chat weeks and even months before his death so I was surprised to wake up to find myself muted cause of my status.

The mute was a bit harsh to me as a warning would suffice but it's over now so no need to drag it even more. I do forgive you Agent even if you had a crappy morning like most of us. In the end we are all human and we can do mistakes. We talked on discord and we made up so it's all good now. No need to flame or target her.

Though I would rather not continue this discussion on my application as I dont want things to go haywire and flaming happening. Feel free to take it to a DM or something but again thanks for all your support. It really means a lot to me to see people standing up for me when I'm unable to talk.

I will not be quitting anytime soon so dont worry I won't let this situation affect me as I've had worse ones happening to me back then and I didnt let it stand in the way either.

I am indeed active most of the days like at least 2-3 hours and I only saw you once active which was 2 days ago. Probably cause of timezone differences
