This build is pretty good, personally I'd recommend the Tomahawk MAX B450 based on the fact that it'll provide you a better upgrade path (As a result slightly more expensive). You can upgrade from the 2600 to ryzen 9. I believe you can also overclock that ram for better timings too.
For the games you've mentioned, the 3800X is overkill. Unless you plan on streaming, which even so you can do with a 2700x. A 3600 would suffice perfectly for your use case. What GPU are you looking at? At the price you've said, I would recommend the 2060S soley on the fact that the 5700XT is plagued with driver issues.
Although he did say he is kinda new to this, so I don't think he is going to want to get into overclocking for a while
Another quick question, what makes a 'good' power supply? Some people are referring me to ones costing as little as £30 or £50 while other people are referring me to ones costing more than £100. Also, what makes a good graphics card and case? And what on Earth is a threadripper? It sounds like something out of a horror movie. Was looking at the following GPUs: MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ventus XS 6G OC Graphics Card MSI NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060 GAMING Z Graphics Card '6GB GDDR6 ASUS AMD ROG Strix Radeon RX 5700 OC Edition 8 GB I've found the Ryzen 7 3800x for £291 on Amazon while the GPUs were around the £380 mark. I honestly couldn't be more clueless at this point. I wanted to get newer parts so that they won't go out of date so quickly. I don't have the money to keep upgrading the components all the time. Although with those prices, I would have to slack on other components. I'm avoiding prebuilts actually heh. Not only are they more expensivee and you get less for your money, but I am really interested into learning the components of a PC and being able to distinguish what is considered 'good' or 'bad'. This knowledge will allow me to upgrade without hassle in the future. I have indeed. Looks good. Shame there is a 50% price increase for components in Europe or something ridiculous. eg. Ryzen 5 3600x I found US Amazon for $172 while its $240 UK. Already got a family Windows 10 thingymabob which I'm hoping to use. Is It worth investing in water cooling?
System Builder - Ryzen 5 3600X 3.8 GHz 6-Core, Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB MECH OC, H510 ATX Mid Tower - PCPartPicker ^-^ Rate my build. I'm hoping to cut it down £70 somehow if possible. Not a clue if it's good or not though.
A good power supply is one that reaches the power threshold you'll need. You should only buy PSUs from reputable brands as well. Corsair, EVGA etc. All good choices, just the RX has problems with its drivers. If they are eventually fixed, you can even get the performance of a 5700xt with a bios switch but that's futher down the line. A good way to ensure you get good prices while living in the UK, is to use amazon.de instead. You get the prices of components for cheaper with minimal shipping because of the short travel. However, I don't know how Brexit has affected that. This is a decent build, the only thing I'd say is that you need an SSD. A 240gb one would suffice soley serving as a boot drive to start windows. If you go bigger you can place heavier games onto the drive too. I wouldn't buy the 3600X because it isn't worth it for the £50 price increase, barely an improvement over the 3600.
Oh wow, thanks so much for the advice. I had a look at some of the other European `Amazon sites and Italy looks promising too- for GPUs especially. Unfortunately Brexit has resulted in the pound sterling decreasing in value so not a huge 'money-saver'. Do you have a discord account which I can quick fire a round of questions to? Many thanks.
