NoobWall - (hopefully) No More Questions

I'm planning on restarting my island very soon, and the "castle" mall I'm building needs some decor on the second level.
So, my plan was to create a wall with as many helpful things for new players (or players just asking questions), including an ambitious project on where to get items without buying from other players (if possible), and reasonable prices for what to sell those items for.
The economy of this server is, to many (mostly non-ranks), very confusing and it's hard for them to find materials that would naturally come from a normal Minecraft world. I know Harreru said on discord a few days ago that you cant really do much from your own island, and have to take full advantage of the server to earn grass, or, as he phrased it, pay2win, which is true in a way because not many people have access to winning things from Legendary Keys if they don't pay for them or grind through key ranks to get extremely lucky (from Voter to Leg key but skipping Common it's a 4.4 in 1 million chance, and going through Common is a 1.7 in 10 million chance).
Not sure how much support this will get, I know it might sound to a few like spoon-feeding but it's better to use this than make a signed book with hundreds of pages that will crash games when typing it out. If you want to help out with it, you can reply whatever else I should add to the NoobWall

 

Add a secret sign somewhere in the wall for the black market. E Z Grass

 

A tradeshop tutorial might be a good thing to add to the wall. A lot of people find the one at /warp info confusing.

that's true, and I'll include it, although I was a bit hesitant because many popular destinations like SkyDerp and Teisuto already have them

 

agreed, I'm aware Tog advertises his alt island a lot and that people use it but since the player-base is half-a-million strong on /skyblock, there should definitely be more opportunities for players finding tutorials. Thank you for pointing this out

 

Spoon feeding new players is exactly what I've been doing with about 80% of my in game time for many months now. At some point, I realized that Skyblock.net in its current state isn't a game that many people are patient enough to play. Starting out, as you've pointed out, is extremely arduous and confusing, causing many people to quit after a few hours of pointlessly worshipping the cobble generator. By holding new players' hands and guiding them smoothly through their rocky starts, we can prove to them that the Skyblock community is a great place to stay while providing much needed advice and experience that will help them enjoy the experience.

I get upset sometimes when I look at some very big server networks* co-opting the concept of Skyblock and drawing thousands of players that could've been part of our community. There hasn't been much response from the upper echelon of this server yet, so I'm very glad that you and other likeminded players are taking the initiative to make Net a more hospitable and appealing game for new players.

Anywho, yes hopefully we would be able to guide newer players through the Skyblock experience so that they stay. From pure observation, I think around 200-400 players join the server a day, usually, and with the new global siuation the numbers might have potentially doubled. Many new players ask lots of questions, and hopefully, with a growing community around answering those questions, we'll be able to keep as many as we can.

I've heard that the larger servers (we all know who, I believe) have had a lot of criticism from thousands of players because their admins have not been very helpful with things like scams, and many are quitting because its not getting enough updates, yet it's their most updated "game". Hopefully, with the growing community, there will be a growing want to help the newer players.
