A simple suggestion: make a plugin that blocks users from sending the same or similar message twice in the same time period: let's say 5 minutes.

WHY: to stop spambots, as well as the countless ads filling the chat and preventing normal talk.
IMPACT: minimal on the server, but positive for the chat.

There already is an amazingly designed chat filter on all the servers it blocks out people sharing ip’s or spamming really fast. Adding this would just be extremely annoying. The chat filter we have now is perfect.

Although it has its flaws, our current chat filter does its job well and relatively unobtrusively, which is more than I can say for the chatfilters of most servers. Normal talk is fine just the way it is; if you're trying to hold a conversation with someone in private, /chat local serves the purpose perfectly.

The ads are a bit annoying, but they're pretty helpful for new players in finding places to get things. Also, there are definitely rules to prevent people from advertising excessively; it's just a matter of enforcement.

the problem would be only relative to people who hate seeing the same msg over and over again and cant be heard over it, but it is ok, maybe just some type of afk kick instead

The most annoying suggestion I had hoped to never ever see on the forums or in-game. If you want to stop spambots, suggest something that wouldn't hurt literally the rest of the playerbase. I don't know where you got the idea the impact is minimal, it's one of the reasons I don't play most other servers. And spam bots already get a captcha before they can enter the game. Since Lee's update on that, I have barely seen any spam botters on the server (and I'm eternally grateful). I would only see a benefit in reducing the island advert frequency, but this suggestion is pointless.

If anything, reduce the frequency of skyblock tips. They're helpful, but I don't know if many players read them.

They aren't that bad but they could use a slowdown. Anyway is there not an option to turn them off, I dont know where, if you know reply.

No support, if it tells you you cannot send the same message twice it would ruin autoadvertisement mods.

That's not the point, AutoAdvertise mods basicly also clutter the chat, so what is the point your trying to get out of this?

    I'd Agree.

We already have a helpful, well-organised and functioned Chat Filter constructed by Lee himself that helps stop Spam Bots and other useful things so I don't see the need in adding another anti-spam plugin as it would just be pointless. Although the Chat Advertisements may come across as annoying, and I see that this could help prevent the amount seen in chat, but you are always free to /ignore them. Chat Advertisements may not be useful to you, but they can be useful for new players who are looking to spend some of their 'money'. I also don't see the need to remove normal talk from chat. You can always use /chat local or /chat coop if you ever just want to speak to the players near you.

If anything just set a rule that ad's must be on 5-10 minute intervals and have mods remind shop owners of the rule. I know mine personally is set to 15 minutes so you only see it 4 times an hour.

I know there is other shops that do it every minute or so and those I guess can be pretty repetitive.

No. The one we have now is fine. People need to stop advertising their stores so frequently, also, as helpful as the chat advertisements may seem, they are still very spammy to both donors and non-donors.

Thank you for creating a suggestion!
Unfortunately after looking at it we have decided that we will not be adding this feature. We felt like this would not be possible or needed in-game, so your suggestion has been declined. Feel free to create a new suggestion, we're always looking for new additions!
