So I recently made a natural slime grinder using iron golems and it seems that two of them merged together. Considering that it takes 4 iron blocks to make an iron golem and *most* players use them only for slime/mob grinders it would be a good thing if merging for iron golems were disabled. ~Sky
It really depends. It could be used by one person and could increase the response time on the server. You use it for grinding but someone else could use it on purpose to lag a chunk and cause problems in the server. You can use dividers for iron golems to prevent merging?
Considering that it takes 4 iron blocks to make an iron golem, it seems unlikely that someone will have the drive to intentionally lag the server whilst also draining their own money. Also there can be other methods (if they are needed) to prevent lag that may occur from iron golems such as a limit to how many iron golems/mobs there can be on someone's island. That's exactly what I did, although I don't know how far away mobs need to be from each other to prevent merging, but I had a 6 block gap between the iron golems and that wasn't enough. The thing is, iron golems don't naturally spawn and are also one of the most expensive mobs. That means that there will not be many iron golems on the server to cause lag. The real lag causers are the massive mob grinders with the on/off water flow and the NATURALLY spawning mobs. The *only* reason people use iron golems are for slime/mob grinders where nobody wants them to merge.
Okay for one, there is a way to have iron golems not merge (as they don't in my slime farm). Rename them with a nametag. Secondly, iron golems can be farmed in a villager farm, it's just that iron drops are disabled from those.
