Many inactive islands are around players for most months. only 3 active players are near each other I was wondering it was possible to swap the inactive and an active island. so the 3 are grouped closer
Unfortunately you would need a really good reason for your island to me swapped. You can't request an island swap you have to get a double or triple island by buying the island off of who u want.
It would be nice, if at all possible, to move the active islands on classic closer together. We have very few players as is so it would not only be nice for us, but also be less of a strain on the server. If the islands were to be moved this would cause the server to have to load in less distant chunks and keep the activity more centralized. Of course, I have no idea as to what the servers are capable of so this might cause very little impact, if any at all.
It it on economy but grouping active players together would focus chunk loading in one area, If moving thousands of players like is possible.
Yes but it would make it unfair to the people who worked hard to get a double island or a triple. it will also make other people want their islands moved causing the devs to be too busy on things that aren't that important
This would be really nice, but there is a problem. If a player takes a break for one year, comes back, and finds their island no longer next to the island they were building in a connected fashion, they would be understandably upset. Besides, most people don't need their island in a specific place.
its more of bases that hadn't even really started more level 1- 5 bases that been offline for a certain time, there's so many. I made 2 whole sized maps and around only 5 bases beyond level 3 for each map, someone else created a large map and also many small inactive islands, These islands should have the largest impact as the quantity of them is horrendous.
Speaking of these, my island is surrounded not only by small islands that barely even have a cobble gen, but even an island with half of it missing, presumably caused by the reset from way back when. It is mostly these islands that need moving as they don't add to the server in any way.
Yeah I really rate this idea highly, potentially if the inactive players island level is lower then 30 and they have been inactive for a while (3+ months), their island could be swapped if requested. Support the idea but it will be kinda hard to implement.
I agree with having to request a swap, however 3 months might bee too little as some people have no choice but take breaks sometimes. If they were to get back after, say, 4 months, to their island being moved, they might reasonably so be angry. I suggest at least 6 months instead, maybe even a year.
What would be the technical process for relocating islands? Maps are stored as files, but make me think about a database. You'd be swapping all values for 1 block as for another, for all blocks in the 200x200x256 area. What might work better is some sort of "veteran" server where we could get our islands copied, right next to each other. But then how would new players interact? Could the servers be joined in some way where a player can /visit a veteran's island seamlessly, then /home back to the newbie server? And still has the issue of a veteran quitting like AuburnJesus, or being banned.
This could fairly easily be done with something like worldedit or MCEdit, you save an island as a schematic and paste it onto its new coordinates. This would require a server restart however to initialize the new, modified map, as well as a LOT of time to do this manually. I am not very well versed in the plugins handling each player's personal spawn however so I don't know how that would interact.
Yeah, I get that some people cant be forced into not playing for extended periods of time however if the island had 30 or less island levels on it i wouldnt think the island owner would be to concerned about the position of their island.
I have seen these levels be mentioned before but never got around to asking what they actually are, so would you mind explaining it to me? Also how would I go about seeing my island's level?
Do /level to see your level. Mine's 1300+ I've heard that slime blocks and gold blocks give the same 3 levels per block.
Frxn homie the lag issue has been something the staff have struggled with since classic. Don't see why you disagreed with the facts that's kinda lame bro
