Gonna quote this right here... "Tamed mobs are protected from damage by players other than their owner, no matter where they are standing" As I just tested, other players can of course tame mobs at your island and then nametag them, if anyone is aware of some recent issues, players have renamed mobs VERY inappropriate things and leaving them at others islands, though im happy that Lee added my suggestion this is a problem within it, making it so others can tame mobs but the island owner cannot kill them is a pretty big error... For example, someone could easily tame a ton of dogs then leave them at someones island, after a while this would cause EXTREME lag yet the island owner can do almost nothing about it without the use of lava, which destroys items and other things along with it, this is a problem... players can easily use this as a tool to cause trouble. The "Tamed mobs are protected from damage by players other than their owner, no matter where they are standing" should be removed from this update, while the other changes stay, as nametagged animals never despawn anyways unless there is a big error.
Support if there is what i think youre implying with the nametag situation it get real bad real quick
Yeah, and since you cant kill others tamed animals at your island its impossible to remove them without lava, and as stated above... it has consequences. But, with how Lee stated the update, if he just removes the one thing specified in the quote then the whole problem is fixed, if only island owners can kill nametagged animals then thats perfect.
The thinking behind not allowing players to kill each other's pets is that pet dogs will follow their owners around, and they would be vulnerable to being attacked or killed while visiting other players' islands. I do see how players might leave their pets unattended on other players' islands and how that could be annoying. Would it help if we provided a command to allow island owners and coop members to see who owns an abandoned pet, or to send then back to their owner's island?
Personally, the other day I had just killed 7 dogs because some people had brung them to my island and sat them there to annoy me. I feel like it would be easier to just let you kill them, because if they had tamed the dogs and stuff, it would be hoped they had enough sense to unsit them and let them follow him home.
A command for this would have to be really good, because if its sending 1 animal at a time it still wouldn't be good, it would take far too long. I don't think this would be a proper solution, and if players are carrying normal pets to others islands then if the owner kills them then i'm sorry, but pets are free at many islands and even at /warp animal, + the only pets you can take to others islands is dogs, cats, and parrots (2 parrots at a time). The new system is easily abused, and it's just the one rule that breaks it. It is understandable that some players would be sad at losing their pets at another's island but it should be made clear that this is a possibility. If players make their pets sit at another island its their own fault, not the owners and the owners should have the power to remove the animals easily like before. Lets say I tame 100 dogs at /warp animal. I can visit someone with a rares room and make them all sit easily, if they try and lava them out, BAM. All. Rares. Lost. It's extremely easy and cheap to do this. The option to kill any animal at your own island should be a thing, the nametag limitation is nice, where only island owners can kill nametagged animals.
Oh, but having a command to see who owns an animal would be GREAT!!! This would allow you to see who has nametagged animals rude things and allow you to see who is spamming an island with animals.
Yo this happened the other day and I just broke the blocks under it and let it fall into the void. LOL support.
Alright, I've added a command called /petnear (alias /nearpet) that shows you nearby tamed mobs and who owns them. It displays output similar to the /near command and also shows any custom name the tamed mob may have. I've also made it so if you hit any tamed mob on your island (or one where you're trusted) with a stick, it sends it back to its owner's island spawn point without hurting it. The change will take effect on /economy and /skyblock after the next scheduled server restart.
