    Hello Everyone,

I want to reach out to the community and ask for help as to which laptop should I buy. As a upcoming college student soon I want to have a laptop that will definitely do work but also be good enough where it can game a little too. Any suggestion would be great.

Definitely go for a MacBook if your full college mode but MacBooks suck for gaming

I have a MacBook Air and it runs Minecraft just fine I don’t know about other games though

Yeah I think that would be the best option since its really good for school especially if you can get one of those college deals that get you like a free pair of beats and it can handle minecraft

Currently I use a Dell Insprion 15 3000 series. It was made in 2013, but only started using it in 2014. It still works but I literally have a small opening and a decent sized crack near the power button, most likely from heavy usage. Its an alright laptop, apart from not detecting my wifi even though my wifi is strong. It can run some games, but that's it.
The laptop is more of a everyday use laptop that can handle gaming alright. Sadly it's becoming more slow.

I personally prefer HP because the build quality is a lot better and overall the system performance is better than the Dell I currently have.

This is gonna be long lol oops.

If you're using your laptop primarily for school, and you're an iPhone user, you should probably get a Macbook. Having a Macbook is extremely convenient because of its compatibility across devices. Airdrop allows you to transfer documents between devices much quicker than any other method; handoff allows you to to send app and data across devices seamlessly (if you have a certain window/app open on your iPhone, you can directly open it on your laptop with just the click of a button--literally). Not to mention, there's the ease of being able to text, facetime, and pick up phone calls from your laptop. If you don't already use any Apple products, there's really no point.

If you do choose to purchase a Macbook, you have three choices: the Macbook, the Macbook Air, and the Macbook Pro. The Air is the cheapest, and most popular model with students. The "base" model Macbook is more expensive than the Air, but it's significantly smaller and lighter (this is the laptop I have). The Macbook Pro is the same price as the previous Macbook, but has the highest processing power, and you have the choice of adding a touch bar (I don't recommend this--it's pretty useless).

If you don't like or want to use Apple, I cannot recommend the HP Spectre x360 enough. That's the laptop I used throughout the latter half of high school, and it served me great. I had no problem doing light gaming on mine (I could even manage to play Minecraft with shaders on this), though I upgraded mine from the default 8gb of ram to 16gb, but even otherwise I assure you can play Minecraft and other games of the same caliber. And unlike Macbooks (which only have USB-C ports, the Spectre has a variety of different port types).

In all honesty, it really comes down to what you value most in a laptop. I have a 12" Macbook with horrible processing power for how much it costs ($1900 CAD tax included). However, I had the budget, and I was looking for an ultra light laptop with good battery life, and this was the best option. I needed a tiny laptop I could carry anywhere, but still have good battery life, since I had a desktop computer in my dorm room I could do most heavy-duty work with.

Boii don't waste your money on a Mac don't do my mistake. You can get a laptop windows 10 way better than a Mac for half the price. The laptops I recommended are from Asus and razer. They're good for productivity and playing. Mac's are bad and if you pay like $2000 for one that comes without usb ports for your mouse or keyboard

Hp computers have horrible bios, and they are usually really slow and fall apart quickly. I recommend dell or razer.
maybe a dell latitude bc they work really well

Okay after many trails/errors and searching I have come to the conclusion of this. I would like to hear anyone's thoughts and insight on this? Is it good? if not what could be a better alternative?

    Dell - Inspiron 2-in-1 17.3" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce MX150 - 1TB Hard Drive - Silver

Would recommend getting a laptop with an ssd, as it'll be faster, along with a better gpu if possible.

sorry if this has been answered, but what would you be doing with said laptop? If you want to be running resource demanding games I can get you a couple options.

I use an acer predator helios gaming laptop, however mine is awful to carry around, being around 4 kilos, and it's like an inch thick, however it's been extremely reliable and has been fantastic for running whichever games I preferred to play at the time

Haven't tried the dell xps laptop, but I do have a desktop. I can say is that it's a joke if you look at the specs and what they claim it can do

Personally I'd go for their Inspiron laptops as they are great, only thing is to get the one that won't cause cracked hinges and make it near impossible to connect to your wifi like mine

If it's work only, the dell inspiron has done my grandpa very well for nearly a year. I can run over 20 minecraft clients on it while doing a survey on vote keys with microsoft excel. Would reccomend unless your rich.
