Use the money you earn from ranks and buy a better provider that doesnt lag so much the reason for economy's inevitable doom is that the economy needs hoppers to thrive and with it being so limited the server depleats everyday, economy used to have 70+ players now it has 50+ players we need to keep this server running

and its not only economy skyblock needs help too

    consider it

I’m pretty sure everyone has thought this at one point, however, you don’t know how much the server costs to run. Maybe it uses up all the money it’s bringing in at this point? Who are you to judge when you aren’t part of the group of people who spend their time fixing what goes wrong.

Economy used to have 70+ players, according to you, however maybe the hype around the “new server” has died off, and people who were only there to ride on that popularity wave have left.

There are many reasons why people have stopped playing, threads like these aren’t going to change anything.

I agree I don’t even think this suggestion is allowed first of all it’s off money and not server mechanics the server is already at its max for upgrades I think Leeeroieee would have to explain better

I'm pretty sure it would have been done already if it was a good thing. There's probably a reason why they didn't do this yet.

Surely if it was an easy fix they would’ve already fixed it. On economy you need some hoppers, but if you keep your farms at normal sizes and check them often, and think outside of the systems we know and love ,the hopper limits are fine.
Also, if they would buy a better server and allow hoppers and spawners to be unlimited (or higher numbers again) dont you think we would run fall back in the same issues again?

Honestly it's not as easy as "Hey Noobcrew buy more RAM". I'm sure the owner and developers have thought of this and as they've said many times before, RAM is not the problem. I'm sure they've come to the conclusion that there's a way to fix lag without having to waste unnecessary money. Let's give them time.

Agree, There was no lag at all back in classic when hoppers were disabled and not too much "More than 100 spawners" grinders.

actually, classic had horrible lag. But there were no hoppers, so clearly there’s another cause as to why the server is constantly laggy.

I would have thought natural mob spawning is probs a killer too. I've suggested looking into it before but it gets ignored like usual :)

Based on what I know of the server, they're just overloading the CPU. Based on reviews in forums regarding an i7 6700k (what the server uses), it's only rated at 60-70 players per core. Anything more than this without enabling multi-core support in Java results in TPS drops when player counts go above this. I haven't seen it explicitly stated anywhere, but from the sounds of things, Classic, Economy, Skyblock, Skywars, and the server hub are all run on the same box, sharing a single 6700k. If that's true, that'd be the cause of the lag. The CPU can't handle player counts like the server gets.

Changing the server over to a box using a Xeon processor at around 3.5 GHz would go miles to help with performance, if they want to run all the servers on the same machine. If each server has it's own 6700k it's using, then the issue is most likely in the configs and setup, which is what they've been trying to optimize. But if they have all those servers on one box, they're going to need to do an extreme amount of optimization to get TPS to reasonable levels.

I could be completely wrong on this, but this is my opinion based off of what I know of the server, and what I've seen in forums and personal experience.

Everything runs on it's own box. We utilize 3 of these dedicated servers with the same specs i've mentioned before. Running everything on the same of course would cause some issues.

If it was as simple as "buying a better server", we would have already done this long ago. We have no problem with investing as much as we can, we're not trying to spend the absolute minimum at all. It's a lot more simple to move the server to a new machine than it is figuring out certain things to limit or improve.

Skyblock has been running of course since 2012, we've bounced around quite a lot onto better and better servers and hardware by default has gotten faster over the years, we have the best specs we can get as of now, but Minecraft has gotten incredibly slower with each update they do, i've mentioned this before but being on 1.12 is a big reason too, we wouldn't ever downgrade but if we did we can very easily be doing 2-3x what we're doing now.

We feel the limit on hoppers is a fair amount with up to 96 being the maximum. This is an amount most players won't ever need to use, though it is an amount that people with large farms would run into quite a bit, we understand that, but that was the issue before. We were seeing some islands with over 500, combine that with another one or two islands like that and everyone else and of course that would make the server stress. It's not our only issue however, we've already improved quite a bit of functions of our private SB plugin and various other plugins to run more async or work in a different way and to be honest I feel like the performance of the server is a lot better than what it was a month or two ago.

Does this mean that we shouldn't expect to be optimized for 1.14 in the near future?
