Title says the idea. It is only ever used by many bots who all buy tickets at the same time, causing tons of spam. Many people on the server have agreed to my point of removing it. The bots are unfair and annoying.

Sorry, is your suggestion to remove the lottery game or to remove the "Player bought 2 tickets" announcement?

If it is removing the game, then no support.

It's about the bots, not removing the game.

I'm not sure if Leeeroieee can handle the bots spam, we could have a list who bought 2 tickets and remove the lottery messages.

    Neutral.

U sure? The title says 'remove the lotto plugin' and I'm guessing it's removing the lottery entirely

Neutral on that, I don't actually mind bots if not for the fact thatthey cause spam in chat, but we could disable lotto announcements

    Shouldnt this be a suggestion?

if you could read and understand english fluently, then both of you would know if wants the lotto game removed. here is my thoughts on the issue: -is the lottery beneficial? no -is the lottery fun? no -is it in even the slightest way needed on the server? no so, should it be removed? yes. support. *cue the disagrees*

is the lottery rigged? yes, very much.

If this is a suggestion (since its in the discussion section) then I'm going with a neutral. Maybe let the lottery chooses the winners based on their IP? Like for example, a bunch of alts of the same IP buy a ticket and the lottery would register them as one IP/account. Sure, people will use VPN to bypass it but it would still slow down the lottery bots or something

if it was all on one ip, then what's the point of buying 2 tickets? the bots aren't a problem here. your perspective is.

Even before i played lotto it didn't bother me, it's just a way to have a chance of winning a bit of money, yes there may be a lot of people/alts buying tickets right after its drawn but that chat message really doesn't last long.

Maybe they can try and see if there is a way of stopping the ".... bought 2 tickets" messages from being visible for like 2 mins after lottery is drawn.

If it really bothers you download this mod:
Skyblock Mod for Forge | Skyblock Forums

that allows you to /togglelottery so you won't see the messages at all

It isnt a dependable source of income but its always a nice boost. And look at the issue from someone else's pov right now. All they see is them being outnumbered with a lot of the accounts connected to one person. And in that case, theyre most likely going to lose their money in the process.

I do wonder, have people been moaning about lotto like this on /skyblock? For all I remember I haven't seen anything like this before economy was re-released.

And if they haven't been complaining, why is it bad on /economy but was never a problem on /skyblock?

they aren't going to lose money if they continuously buy tickets. a normal player thinks those bots are normal players, and they could be just that! if you agree that the bots aren't a dependable source of income, then you should be alright with it! You're wrong! Your reasoning is inadequate! but you're so stubborn that you dont admit you're wrong and change your mind!

If the lottery is not a dependable or sustainable form of income there is obviously a reason why people would try and use bots to win the lottery. It is ridiculous to say over and over that its losing money blah blah yet people still do it all day.

It isn't so much making money from it than it is unfair for those who play legitimately and not use alts as they lose money with less chances to win. That money that people use gets given to, more often than not, an alt. That is not how the lottery should be played, which people afking the damn thing all damn day with alts. It should be a manual process done with one or two accounts only to ensure a more fair draw.

The server should be responsible for preventing these kind of issues because at some point it is encouraging unfair and afk play styles which do nothing for community spirit and keeping the server alive.

Lottery should be fair and if that cannot be managed, remove it and replace it with something that won't be abused.

When playing the lottery, the person with many accounts does not earn or lose more money compared to him playing with one account. He is still bound by the rules of chance.

However, one player with many accounts reduces the chances of other people winning. While there is a 50% chance of winning when 1-1, in a 1-1 where person 2 has 9 alts (1-10) there's a 10% chance of winning. As said of course purely mathematically speaking it is irrelevant, since if the one person wins he will win proportionally more.
Watching one or a few people win the lottery over and over again though is demotivating and makes people less likely to play, since the chance of them winning is significantly reduced (even though they earn proportionally more when they do win).

It's a psychological effect which isn't based on mathematical logic. It reduces entertainment value when playing, and even severely influences the previously logical mathematics, now giving mathematical favor to the person with many accounts. Because this server is based on general entertainment more than the purely the acquisition of money, limiting the amount of alternate accounts in the lottery makes sense. However, I do not believe the plugin needs to be removed completely.

Lz said it best. SBLotto is a zero-sum game, which means that no matter how many accounts one person uses, over a long period of time, the money gained from the lotto will be net $0.

For this very reason, I see no reason for myself logically to play. I might if I was poor and willing to risk a little bit of money for a quick boost in income. If we are suggesting changes to the lotto, I strongly advocate for a starting pot to be added. That way there is actual capital being generated, say $500 per lotto, about every 30 mins, and there's an actual use for the plugin. If a starting pot was added, alt limitations would now have a decent argument to be put in place.

TLDR: Having alts use lotto is completely fair, and I think a starting pot should be added, and if so with an alt-limitation.
