Forums is a great place to become more involved in the Skyblock community, from making suggestions to improve the server to simply saying hi to friends. For beginners it can be difficult to find your feet and learn about the forums: this is where this guide comes in! Keep reading to learn everything: you’ll be a forums pro in no time!

In this section, I'll cover the basic things you'll want to get the hang of after you join the forums. These are the things I'll go over here:
    • How to create a thread
    • How to reply to a thread
    • How to edit your replies and posts
    • How to get access to ratings, how to use them, and how to ensure you follow the rules for ratings
    • How to watch threads
    Creating a Thread
Creating a thread may be the first thing you want to do after joining forums. To do this, firstly go to the top of your page and click on the forums tab, like so:
This will bring you to the forums list. From here, you want to navigate to the correct section. For example, if you want to introduce yourself on the forums you would go to the introductions section. If you are unsure where your thread belongs, hovering over a forum tells you what threads belong there. Click on the forum you want to post in, and then click 'Post New Thread' which is a button that can be found in the top right of the page:
Now you can write what you want to in your thread, and when you are done you can post it using the 'Create Thread' button.
Maybe in a future guide, I will go over in depth how to format your threads. For example, how to use smiley faces, coloured text, how to add images, how to create a poll within your thread, and more.

    Replying to a Thread
Replying to a thread is very easy to do. If you see a thread that you want to reply to, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see a reply box. Type your reply there, and then post it.
You can also quote what someone else has said and then reply to that in your message. It looks like this:
To do this, go to the message that you want to quote. At the bottom right of the message, there is a small reply button that you will see. It looks like this:
If you are quoting the entire reply of someone else, click that button. The quoted text will then appear, where you can add your reply and then post it.
If you just want quote a small section of someone else's reply, highlight the words you want to reply to and you'll see a small reply button appear, like so:
Click the reply button, and the quoted text will appear in your reply box so you can respond and then pose your reply!

    Editing Your Posts and Replies
Made a mistake in your reply and want to quickly fix it? It's easy to do!

Go to the reply or post you want to edit. At the bottom, you will see three options. 'Edit' is one of them.
Click this edit button, and it will give you this screen where you can change your reply. Click 'Save Changes' so your new edited message is saved!
You will also see a 'More Options...' button next to where you save your changes. If you click this, it gives you the full editing menu, similar to the one you have when creating a new thread.
If you want to make large changes to a thread or reply, using the more options menu may be easier.

    Ratings
Ratings are something that you can use to give your opinion on a thread or a reply. There are many ratings, some examples include 'friendly', 'like', and 'disagree'.

To have access to ratings, you must have 25 messages or over. If you have just hit 25 messages and still can't use ratings, don't worry: it can take time to come through.

Once you have access to ratings, here's how to use them.
Find the post or reply that you want to rate. At the bottom right of that post, you will see these icons:
These are the ratings you are able to use. If you are unsure what they mean, hovering over them tells you:
To apply your rating, simply click the rating you wish to use.
You can also see what others have rated that post. At the bottom left of a post, you can see the numbers of ratings that other players have already applied.
Click the 'List' button to see which players have added them.

    Please Note:
    • You cannot use all ratings in all of the forums. For certain forums, ratings are limited.
    • You must be careful with the ratings you use. There is a rule called rate abuse that you need to be aware of. Please read this thread here to ensure you abide by the rules!
    Watching Threads
Watching a thread means that you receive a notification in your 'Alerts' box (top right corner of the page) if someone replies to it.

If you reply to a thread, you will be notified if somebody else replies after you.

If you want to watch a thread without replying, it is easy to do. Go onto the thread you want to watch, and look at the top right. You will see a button that says 'Watch Thread' and looks like this:
Click this button, and from then on you will receive an alert when someone replies to that thread. You also have the option to receive a notification to your e-mail, too. It's just as easy to unwatch a thread: go back to the thread, and the 'Watch Thread' button will now look like this:
Click it to unwatch the thread.

That's it for the starting out section. Onto the next one!

This section will cover the basics of contacting other players and staff on the forums. Here, I'll go over:
    • How to start and participate in conversations with other players
    • How to report a player
    Conversations
Conversations are private messages on the forums. They can be between you and another player or you and a group of other players. To get your conversations, navigate to the top right of your page where it says 'Inbox'.
You can hover over this to see your most recent conversations. To access all your conversations, click the inbox button. Here you can see all your past conversations and create new ones. Replying to a conversation is the same as replying and talking in a thread.

To create a new conversation, look at the top right of your inbox page. There you'll find a 'Start a New Conversation' button.
After clicking this, you can add players, give the conversation a title and write your message. To add a member to the conversation, type in their forums name and click on it when you see it appear, like this:
If you wish, you can add multiple members, too.
Then title your conversation, write your main message and begin the conversation!

To add another member after a conversation has already been created, go to the conversation and find the list of members, titled 'Conversation Participants'. At the bottom of this list, you'll see a small 'Invite More' button:
You can then add extra members to your conversation!

    Reporting a Player
If you see someone on any of our servers breaking the rules, you can report them to the staff members on the forums. Here are the rules: server rules, forum rules. To begin your report, head to the forums list and then the 'Report Users' forum. You'll see two sub-forums, click on 'Report Users' to report a player. In this section, click the 'Post New Thread' button. When you create a new thread, there are different prefixes to pick from. Pick the prefix that corresponds to your report. For example, if you are reporting a player from the /skyblock server, make sure to use the 'Skyblock' prefix. Now you can begin writing your report. Be sure to include your in game name, the rule breaker's in game name, what they have done wrong and the evidence you have for this. Any evidence must be uncropped. Please ensure to read this thread here before making a report.

Remember: if you have no evidence, don't report it: we can't take action without evidence. Also please remember that other players witnessing the event does not count as evidence.

Account details are the way that you set up your account, and features that your account can have. In this part of the guide I'll go over:
    • What 2FA is and how to set it up
    • How to set profile preferences, for example, if it shows that you are online
    • How to set up contact details on your profile page
    • How to buy premium for yourself and others
    • How to get a profile cover
    2FA
2fa stands for two-factor authentication. It is essentially another security step to add to your forums account. It means that when you log in, you need your password and also a unique code to gain access to your account. 2fa is also used for many other platforms, for example, discord. 2fa is a requirement for all staff members to ensure their accounts aren't compromised. 2fa can be a tricky thing to get your head around, and it can take a while to explain. That is why I will link you to this fantastic guide made by Michael , which goes in depth on how to set up 2FA well. Click here to see the guide!

    Profile Preferences
A profile preference is the way that you like to have your forums profile set up. This includes things such as if forums show your online status.

Players can see when you were last on and what you were last doing by clicking on your avatar, like this:
If you want to have it so that no one can see when you were last online and when you're online, go to the top right of your forums page and you'll see your name. Hover over your name so that you see this drop down menu:
Then, look at the bottom left. You'll see a checkbox that looks like this:
Uncheck this box to hide your online status.

You can also have it set so that people can see when you were last on, but not what you were doing. To activate this, head to the dropdown menu again and find the 'Privacy' tab.
After clicking this, you can see a lot of privacy options. At the top you'll see these two:
Here you can customise what people can see about your recent activity.

There are more profile preferences which you can explore as you spend more time on the forums!

    Contact Details
Contact details are a way of telling other forums users how to contact you on other platforms, for example, discord. You can see these details on other people's profiles by clicking on their profile page, going to their information tab and scrolling down to the heading 'Interact'.
To add these to your own profile, head to the drop-down menu we used earlier in the guide and select 'Contact Details'.
Scroll down in this section until you reach a heading called 'Indetities'. Here, you can add different ways of contacting you.
Add your details and ensure to save your changes!

You may also notice that players have their in game names displayed under their forums names, like so:
To add this, go to the drop-down menu and select 'Privacy Details'. Scroll down from here, and you'll find sections where you can add your IGN, location, etc.

    Premium
Premium is a forums rank that can be purchased. You can buy it for your own account or for someone else's. For one month, it is $5. For 6 months, it is $25, and to have premium forever it is $50. Premium has a list f perms:
There are also different coloured username options, which include: orange, pink, turquoise and brown.

To get premium, go to your drop-down menu and find the 'Account Upgrades' option. Find the option that you want. If you are buying the rank for yourself click 'Purchase', and if you are buying for someone else click 'Gift'.
If you are gifting, enter the name of the user you wish to give to, and if you want to gift anonymously. From here, follow the payment instructions with PayPal!

    Profile Cover
A profile cover is a large image or gif that can be displayed on your profile. For example:
So... how do you get your own profile cover? If you have a premium rank, you have access to a profile cover. If you don't, you must have 75o messages and 500 likes in order to have one. Once you have met these requirements, go to your profile and hover over your profile cover. From there you can upload your very own!

This brings me to the end of this section. There are many other account details and preferences to explore that go way beyond this guide, so go and have a browse for yourself!

    Conclusion
And so, we have reached the end of the guide! I really hope you found it helpful and learned something new. Remember, there are so many things to be explored on forums so ensure to have a good look around! For more great guides be sure to check out the guides and how to section here! Leave any questions or suggestions below, and thanks for reading!

If you have any further things I should add, let me know! :)
