Self-explanatory. Just discuss your Japanese animation needs, recommend shows to others, and just have a fun time watching good shows.

So the medium sort of has a negative connotation from Western society, seeing it as inferior to the "traditional Western film", while many people stereotyping the fandom of the medium into the hardcore extremists. Being a casual viewer myself, and being in contact with many other casual viewers as close friends, I really don't see much merit to this view; however, I may just be completely misjudging us, and perhaps we're all just the rabid monkeys everyone says we are.

I may as well start. Without further ado, here's a list of stuff I'd recommend: Screenshot by Lightshot

I'd recommend Akame Ga Kill, as well as kings game (prolly the most twisted anime out here) If you watch them, tell me your thoughts

Fairy Tail, all-time favourite. I also like to watch Hotarubi No Mori E every now and again, which is an anime short film.

I feel like I'm in the minority when I say that I didn't enjoy Fairy Tail (I dropped it after a while). Its plot seems repetitive and formulaic, and it really doesn't stray from the central themes. Like many shows of the type, it also seems excessively "preachy" in that it overwhelms viewers with its ideals of friendship and bonds (not that I have a problem with it; it's just simply I've heard it too many times), while also feeling repetitive at the same time. This also translates to the story, in which the sole motivation for conflict is either the bad guys messing with their "bond" or the bad guys does something to their friends.
I will, however, admit that I did enjoy Mavis as a character, as she was the only one introduced who actually felt constructively complex. Anyways, that's just my two cents. I hope this felt constructive and not too critical.

Understandable. Fairy Tail is admittedly a little cliche. I love it because of the friendships and the humour between the characters, being able to fantasize what it's like to be in such a magical world. I think it provides a strong message to not take your friendships for granted and that having a bond with someone is powerful enough to take on the world. I'm just sad that's it's the last season currently. :C
I'm not the fondest of the main characters for the sole reason of them being mainstream and always having the spotlight, when many characters such as Levy, Cana, Freed, Mavis, Mira, Wendy and maybe even Juvia are actually quite underrated, and I think they deserved to have more of the limelight for some of the things they did. For example, I felt like Hiro Mashima held back Mirajane's power whilst also allowing us to believe in the amount of power Mira contains.

Some of the storylines I loved, some of them I didn't really like. My favourite are Tenrou Arc, The Grand Magic Games, Edolas Arc and the Tartaros Arc because each character was able to have its spotlight instead of the mainstream characters like Natsu and Lucy to have everything.

Just my opinion though, everyone will think of it differently.

I've heard great things about it as a series (and a second season is apparently confirmed). I don't have Netflix right now, but hey, maybe sometime in the future.
