Closed Scam prevention methods

    Hello all,

    Today, I've experienced my first instance of scamming in more than a year. Thankfully, I only lost 20 grass(18 since I got refunded partially. Thanks Agent !).

    I'd like to know if there's any methods to provide better proof against this kind of scamming, short of asking a mod to invsee. It seems kind of inconvenient for them to have to oversee every little trade deal.

    Suggestions?

    We are always happy to invsee, don't worry about inconveniencing us! It's the only 100% safe way, and you should always do it when you're trading valuables. We would much rather do 10000 trades through invsee than have to deal with 1 bad scam where we can't find your stuff!

    The next safest is using tradeshops, if your trade is within the limits of what a tradeshop can handle.

    Recording your trade can help get someone banned if they scam you, but does not always guarantee you get your items back. A lot of the time the scammer transfers it to another account or to a friend, in order to hide it from us. Getting a mod to just "watch" a trade is just as useless. Always have a mod invsee!! please :heart:

    Thanks! I've heard about something called Gyazo gif...is this useful as well? I don't want to burden my gameplay with Bandicam, so it seems like the next best option.

    Gyazo gif only captures a short clip, probably much shorter than your trade so it likely won't properly record the whole thing. If you are on Windows 10 you can press Windows key+G to open up the built in game recorder.

    step 1: dont trade.
    step 2: if you have to trade, use a chest and it can be logged to know if the transaction went as planned or not. a good addition to this would be screencap of messages leading up to this just to confirm the terms of the deal. (f12 cause ezpz or lightshot if you feel like auto uploading it)
    step 3: get scammed anyway because bad luck, or move on with a successful trade.

    kerahna mentioned trade shops which I didn't even know was a thing and yea that should be completely safe, just make sure you know what the sign actually does before you use it.

    This is my tip to not getting scammed. I never, ever drop my items first. If they don’t drop the items first, I won’t trade.
    If someone refuses to drop their item first and it’s something I really want, I’d get a mod. If the item can be placed in a trade shop, I’d do that. Donor400s have invsee and endersee so you can check if a user has the items they are promising but as I said, they drop their items first.

    Sometimes part of not being scammed is not falling for too good to be true offers and being able to say no if the deal doesn’t turn out the way you want.

    Being a donor400 is useful for /invsee. Cause many people have asked me to invsee the players they are trading with in case these players dont have the players. It is some useful way to prevent scamming. Just ask a donor400 or a mod to invsee the player you are tradin with :p
