WTH would name their kid that?

 

er... ask the same question to red, blue, yellow, silver, gold, etc. pokemon names are weird

It's the manga tho, not the game, although the Manga is based on the game's events and characters.

 

Red was named so because his father wanted him to be passionate and warm like a fire.
(At least in Pokemon Origins)

 

Yeah, but in the Pokemon Adventures Manga, the character's names are determined by what game version they're in. So, in the Kanto stories, It was mainly Red (The Main Main Character), Blue, Green, and Yellow. Then, in the Johto adventures it was mainly Gold and Silver. I haven't read it all yet, but in the Hoenn adventures it is mainly Ruby and Sapphire. I think they skipped Sinnoh, and finally in the Unova adventures it is mainly Black and White.

 

I was talking about inside the story. Why did their parents name them that.
